Default The History of Irish Anarchism

Just came across this interesting site on the history of Irish Anarchism.

    http://irishanarchisthistory.wordpress.com/

It should be a very useful resource.

I'll make a sticky of this thread.

Well spotted CF. I think I know the guy behind that site. Had a quick gander and had a look at the oldest item on there - Belfast attends 1912 Anarchist conference in Leeds
"It is we the workers who built these palaces and cities here in Spain and in America and everywhere. We, the workers, can build others to take their place. And better ones! We are not in the least afraid of ruins. We are going to inherit the earth; there is not the slightest doubt about that. The bourgeoisie might blast and ruin its own world before it leaves the stage of history. We carry a new world here, in our hearts."

Kudos to the WSM, hadn't realised they were 27 years on the go, they've been consistent advocates for anarchism and have contributed alot to the left in Ireland, especially in the Rossport struggles.

Are the Murrays still in prison? If so isn't it time they were let out? They must be quite elderly by now.

The Murrays were released in 1992.

Initially they were sentenced to death for 'capital murder' and moved to the death cells.

After a retrial their conviction was changed to 'murder' and a sentence of life imprisonment imposed.

...and thanks to C. Flower for the generous mention of our site.
