Get a grip Kev. Most places (including the much vaunted western "democracies') are governed by cold blooded killers. Why Ireland having one as a figurehead would make it stand out in any way is beyond me. And at least it is possible that Art pulled a trigger himself. The others just send poor young men and women out to do it for them. And I would like to think that Art would perhaps blanch at the scale of killing that presidents of the USA, for example, carry out without thinking twice.

I find it very difficult to get in any way animated about this election.
The presidency is usually an impotent position.
Now, with the government subjugated by the Troika, this is more evident than ever.

I can't listen to these people toora-looing about "this great country".

Spotted two Mitchell posters in town a while ago.

Who signs off on the posters I wonder. Mitchell's mouth looks exactly like something off the Muppet Show. You'd think a candidate with so little going for him would at least try to avoid looking like a tool on his posters.

Tell me something I don't know Sam.
Just cos Marty kills for your team doesn't award him a free "get out of satire" card.
I would have some respect for him if he took that angle.
But no, instead a Fianna Fail like sham, a sleveen in the making.

On the subject of shams, I feel I let Gallagher off too lightly and didn't quite hammer Dana to her cross.

So indulge me, as I indulge you, for the final time:

The All Kinds Of Everything Irish Presidential Farce

The disabled business shark turned reality TV sham,
the cutesy singer turned bean an teahadi
the creepy fascist turned creeping Jesus,
    the snake-eyed terrorist turned statesman,
the 'special needs wears prada' business shrew turned stateswoman,
    the poet/activist politician turned leprechaun,
the gay activist/scholar politician turned shrieking bon-viveur.

I was amazed to see all the teenage girls outside the RTE studios greeting the presidential hopefuls.

Cunning RTE have Jedward on the show. Cunning

Thought the crack about the candidates as 7 deadly sins was quite amusing....Guess MMcG gets to be wroth and Norris gets to be Lust? Still have to assign sloth, envy, greed, gluttony, pride!

    ...have fun

Each candidate was given 8 audience tickets, which would explain those shitty whoops for Gay Mitchell
