Which now that I think of it makes today's report of Tubridy's 'lower' 400k contact a bit curious.
All the more so as it seems like only two days ago RTÉ were quite concerned about how we are going to fund the future of TV

I just completed a face-to face survey for Ipsos MRBI on radio listnership/TV/ and online use. No political questions and none on mixed media use as we all know and love here on PW. (Listening to the radio while checking the playlist online, or watching Vincent Browne and heckling.) The media are not used discretely any more.

Pat Byrne formerly of CityJet trying to out Leary O'Leary on Brendan O'Connor\s Saturday Night Show.
Firing all the top civil servants and replacing them with business people will solve all our woes.
Oh, and we need to talk tough to the Troika as well.
There you are. Simple, populist and what's not to like?

We have business people telling FG what to do so woud it make much diffeence?

Not an iota. I guess the reason for his appearance is that his new software company needs a publicity boost.
RAINMAKER, THE airline software business run by former CityJet executive Pat Byrne, is raising €1.5 million from the Diageo Ulster Bank venture capital fund.

Rainmaker is a Dublin-based software developer that supplies a number of US and European airlines.

The company has secured €1.5 million from the Diageo Ulster Bank Venture Fund, which is managed by NCB Ventures, a division of the NCB stockbroking firm.

Rainmaker has developed specialist applications that provide airlines with web-based access to real time information on the performance of flight operations such as crew utilisation and pay and fuel management. Its products focus mainly on managing and reducing costs.

The company that hires Tubs gets a new contract from RTE

RYAN Tubridy has spoken of his relief at signing a new three-year contract with RTE because it offers him "job security".

In his first public comments since signing the deal, the father of two revealed he considers himself fortunate to have a job.

"In this day and age it's a relief to have some job security," Mr Tubridy said.
Months of negotiations took place between the broadcaster and RTE before they agreed the deal. But the 'Late Late Show' host said he didn't mind accepting a greatly reduced salary, estimated at €373,333. That is more than €160,000 down on what he was paid in 2008.

"I took the pay cut because I am a realist and know exactly where we are as a country, and as an organisation in particular. That's the real world. I didn't have a problem with it," he said.
