Thanks PJ. Very little seems to be known about them despite useful wodges of public monies being paid over.

Their anti worker stance wouldn't have damaged their status with Harney.

Maybe one or other of our party members here could get their TDs to table a few questions to Reilly so a little light can be shed on this beneficiary of his very tight budget.

    Anyone catching this 'repatriation' story?

    Scary.

Seems RTE has given in to TV3 Salem journalism.

Until I checked, I thought that was a deeply metaphoric observation.

    It is appalling isn't it?

Rather than acknowledging that we have a responsibility to be humane in our treatment of prisoners, even those who committed dreadful crimes, Shatter is spinning this as a boast that by repatriating this prisoner he's subjecting him to a harsher regime.

Can't see where the witch hunt element comes in. Looks like it was a straight forward case of a very brutal rape and murder.
Hard to blame the family for suspecting that this person will have a easier time in the Czech Republic and could eventually see his sentence shortened.

It doesn't help if, as suggested, the family only found out about the decision two weeks after it was made.

This a savings decision, straightforwardly. Totally understand the family's concern that he should serve his sentence in this jurisdiction where they can feel there is some control over his treatment. If he is capable of understanding his crime then he will also understand how the family of his victim feel about him.
