Dublin City Council passes motion in support of gay marriage with labour backing it and Shinners doing the same country wide bar Fermanagh where the DUP I think it was stuck a stick in the spokes and SDLP abstained.

This message was posted on KTG yesterday.

It took a lot, an awful lot of guts for this individual to write this, as well as for KTG to publish this. I am certain people outside Greece don't realize just how much risk this man is taking by openly declaring himself gay. The witch-hunt has probably already started. It is obviously a Google translate job of an original Greek writing,
but does give a very clear indication of the state of fear many people in the Greek community live in today.

    Dimitris T, Athens
Reactions of religious groups ans censorsip of the art in Greece has a long history before the rise of Golden Dawn.
For decades this marginally lawfull group took 0.1- 0.2% in the elections, but with strong connections in Police and Army. This mentality still exists and resists in a -minority though- part of greek society. As o 41 y. o. doctor and gay, I don’t feel safe. No recognition of gay rights exists in Greece and mainly this performance was condemned by the church because they think that they present Jesus as gay, which is not true.
Finally the first performance was given on Friday 12th under strict protection by the police but it was the last, since performers’ lives are constantly threaten by GD and they eventually gave up.

I am writing this not to urge a reaction to kick Greece out of the EU, of what but to ask and cry for rise of information and close follow – up is happening nowadays in Greece.

Gay Marriage questions are on the ballot in four states this election day.
In Maine, Maryland, and Washington state voters will be asked to approve same sex marriage, and polling so far suggests they will approve by about 53-47. Polling on the subject is notoriously unreliable with lots of evidence of people saying in advance that they approve, but voting otherwise. 31 states have either enacted anti GM provisions or failed to legalize GM when asked to do so. Me. Md. and Wa. may be the first to do so.

Minnesota is going in the opposite direction with a question which if approved would enact a constitutional amendment enacting a GM ban. It will be a close call 47/46 in favor of the ban with 7 undecided.

Maryland voters are poised to approve same-sex marriage at the ballot box next month, a potential watershed moment in the history of a right that has been granted by courts and state legislatures but never by a popular vote, a new Washington Post poll has found.
Maryland voters favor upholding the state’s gay marriage law by a nine-point margin, according to the poll, which could end a streak of defeats in more than 30 states and provide further evidence of the country’s evolution on the controversial topic. Recent surveys have also shown leads in Maine and Washington state, where voters will be presented with the same issue Nov. 6.
It has been three years since voters in any state were asked to legalize same-sex marriage — the question failed narrowly in Maine in 2009. Opponents have said they are confident that voters will reject the three state measures yet again. But advocates have long been looking at next month’s election as a potential breakthrough that capitalizes on momentum from President Obama’s endorsement of same-sex marriage earlier this year.

They received another boost Thursday when a federal appeals court in Manhattan ruled that the Defense of Marriage Act, the federal law that defines marriage as between a man and a woman, was unconstitutional. The issue is expected to reach the U.S. Supreme Court soon.

Gilmore at least knows not to forget rights for the LGBT community in Ireland

TÁNAISTE EAMON GILMORE has said Ireland will use the remainder of its time as the chair of an international security group to tackle any violation of the rights of transgender people.

The commitment came as the Tánaiste spoke at the International Gay and Lesbian Association’s annual European conference in Dublin, taking place in Dublin this weekend.

Brazilian man who is infected with HIV was discovered by Gardai in a suspected brothel in Letterkenny on Monday night, Glenties District Court was told yesterday.

Gardai described how they found Jose Filho, 44, who was dressed in women’s underwear and wearing a wig. He had just had sex with a male client who was also still on the premises when Gardai arrived.
