    Default Tymoshenko taken to jail

Police officers Friday escorted a vehicle transporting Ukrainian opposition leader and former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko to jail, her lawyer said.

A court in Kiev backed a motion to arrest Tymoshenko for abuses and obstruction during her trial for alleged misdealing involving a 2009 natural gas deal with Russian energy company Gazprom.

These people were under the influence of Russian Communism for so long they have no concept of democracy but adept at putting on show trials. They learned well from the masters.

I agree; it's more about humiliation rather that justice or truth. Kiev claims Tymoshenko's deal was brokered without the consent of the Cabinet.

I wonder are our legislators here looking into that infamous Indemnity Deal .. ? They could learn something from the Ukraine

You aren't right. You judge about Ukraine by few events. I live in Ukraine and there are a lot of dissatisfied people in our country. They fight for their rights and for democracy. The sole problem is that we haven't a real leader, but it isn't only our problem, I think.

Hi Hellga, do you think she was in the wrong over the breaking of the impasse?

And on another note, are all Ukrainian politicains that good looking?

Not all her decisions were right, but she was better, than current administration is.

    Your English is sound.

It's somewhat comforting to know that we're not the only political circus.

Do you mean that main concept of democracy is that criminals can walk free as we see it in Ireland?

How do you see a leader, which will manage to unite east and west, Russians and Ukrainians?

In real, Eastern and Western Ukraine aren't very different, and Ukraine isn't split. The language and historic problems appear before elections, when one candidate promises the Eurointegration and anoter promises Russian language or cooperation with Russia. This questions aren't very important, people need the economic stability, the supremacy of law.

The absence of the rule of law is a problem not limited to Ukraine.

BTW, dictatorship is the easiest way to achieve it
Problem is only that dictatorship can be productive only for first 5-10 years

However was the orignal cause not Russian interference in the elections anyways and that is what triggered the Orange revolution? I think Russia is worried if Ukraine joins the EU then there is less of a buffer between them and the rest of Europe. Putin strikes me as being an isolationist of sorts.

Welcome to the forum Hellga by the way and your English is fantastic ...
