So much for Joan Burton the people's Labour champion. I wonder how Kathleen Barrington feels about this suggestion considering she's been staring at massive corruption among the so-called 'talent' in Ireland for years and now works for Burton.

Sooner the better the fake champions of the Irish working class are exposed for what they are the sooner we can have that fight that is so badly needed.

Union leaders. Labour leadership. Anti-corruption journos. Fake. A contrived and ersatz democracy.

They will just use the accounts of the partners/families. Sure one of our ex finance minsters did not even have an account.

Thats the point- if they were found to be depositing large sums to accounts other than the one for Oireachtas salary then questions could arise.

If money needs to be saved then it should always start with the oireachtas. Its always wrong to begin with the unemployed or those who have very little.

I agree that people swinging off the social welfare is as bad as Calley's expenses but I would like to see the reform and effort coming from top down. It stops people excusing social welfare fraud by saying 'ah sure everyone is at it- look at them in the Dail.'

Nobody condones social welfare fraud, but when I claimed under 24s job seekers allowance, I had people visiting my home, rummaging through my bank account documents, interrogating my parents and asking all kinds of questions about my means and expenses before I got it. The banks, dodgy developers. and Oireachtas are the ones who caused this crisis and exacerbate it day after day, but they get away with blue murder (€200,000 p/a stipend for NAMA'd developers anyone?) and have been given a legal carte blanche to do so by a complicit government, who placate their well off middle-class voters by going after the likes of me and the other 460,000 odd people on the dole today.

'Money could be saved' by increasing corporation tax, nationalising our state assets, immediately freezing and confiscating assets in the IFSC and burning the senior bondholders. Cutting dole makes no difference to the deficit.

I can point Joan in the direction of a number of suspicious bank accounts held by Irish citizens. The Isle of Man.

Only Irish politicians never seem interested in those bank accounts for some reason. I wonder why.

750 million slashed out of SW in next budget if Joan gets her way. Thats 750 million out of the economy, how this can help I've no idea. I've a good feeling it'll only make matters worse, given things got worse after the last cuts.

What a lazy shower this crowd turned out to be, no serious thought, just cuts. Any numpty could do their job at this stage.

Im not joking when I say put some students and young workers in there. Iceland elected a few students, though not enough unfortunately. Anyone in a business or economics course who remembers anything from Leaving Cert Level economics knows 500m from the landlords subsidies will do no damage to an already dead property market compared to a two tale economy which cannot afford to be starved of 750m of funds, and the state which can't afford to lose the VAT and motor tax etc. that goes with it.

This thread could do with this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6dLik6S8iLQ Protest across the EU on October 15th, and I understand the Sept. 14th one outside the Dail will be discussed tomorrow night where I will propose for RDN to contact a number of people, including the technical group organizing the protest, the various interest groups such as the Hospital Campaigns and Turfcutters associations, the INOU for the unemployed, the INMO for the Nurses, and UNITE which are actually good unions. The aim in my view should be a grand non party public assembly outside the Dail that would set a precedent. At present there is just a protest planned for then but I am 100% confident if we got the likes of Ming, Mick Wallace, David Norris and Robert Ballagh on board it would allow us the possibility to gain added support with new branches springing up as a result in the likes of Wexford, Roscommon, Longford, and who knows maybe even Meath what with Peadar Toibin not being as laissez faire as Gerry Adams. He has made an excellent chair of the Save Navan Hospital Campaign. Sorry about the misspellings, it's late. A permanent ongoing Eu Revolution thread would be a good idea in my view, where we could start with this post here of mine. It could merge with previous threads too?

I absolutely agree with the suggested cut to Landlord's Mortgage Assistance - but they won't do it 'cause this is an indirect transfusion to the banks; a sticking-plaster on their bad-loan books.
They won't allow these landlords to default and surrender the properties to the lender, so they take our money to pay the loan instead.

Ireland's recovery has, by necessity, to begin with the abolition of our banks - seizing all assets in lieu of money paid by the taxpayer into them, establish new institutions to take over the deposits which would be guaranteed and transfered into our new currency, legislation to revoke the guarantee retrospectively, and let the banks debts be the problem of those banks who themselves lent to them.

I'm sure suggestion like these can very easily be attacked and criticised, but the notion of salvaging these intitutions seems impossible.

600 inspectors to go after benefits fraud. In the meantime, people wait for months on the breadline for benefits due to them.

The Office of Corporate Enforcement has 50 staff with eight Garda Fraud Squad members on secondment. Tells you all you need to know about the kind of fraud that really matters in this country.

    Well spotted Paddy Joe.

For the most right wing government in our history it's more important to destroy the dignity of dole claimants in the hope of saving pennies than to it is to stamp out rampant criminality in the business sector.

You can bet that anyone caught signing on for a few days they had casual work wont get off with a slap on the wrist and a mention in Swindlers List.
