Interestingly, 70% of Chileans support the protesters.
100 high schools and a dozen universities are closed. The academic year may have to be repeated.
    This is going to run.

You would imagine the government would listen to the people but as is the typical way of things they dont bother their arse. Students here seem quite apathetic to the whole situation, they dont seem to be bothered with the protests instead more interested in drinking cheap pints down the local . This is the type of thing in Chile that we need here.

The kids in Chile had relatives taken in the night and never come back.
They have a very clear view of justice.

Camila Vallejo, the 23 year old leader of the student protests in Chile.

Vallejo is the president of Chile's leading student body (Federación de Estudiantes de la Universidad de Chile) and a member of the youth arm of the Communist party.

She also seems to be becoming something of a folk hero.

She's mentioned in posts 5 and 13, also.

In Chile it's interesting that it's the second level students who have made a lot of the running.

Second level students wouldnt have the balls here to do that. It would clash with watching Jersey Shore and playing FIFA 2012 time....

She took the full force of the ambush last Thursday.
The authorities are worried about her.

Chilean students have been back on the streets.

Police reports put the total number of protesters at 5.000, while CONES said there were 15.000.
“They detained students that were holding up a canvas and were doing absolutely nothing more,” CONES leader Cristofer Sarabia said.
The march was organized to protest profiteering in Chile’s educational system, and was scheduled on the one-year anniversary of the start of the Chilean Winter, a series of student protests that shock the country in 2011. CONES planned the march earlier this month earlier this month and received the backing of the Confederation of Chilean Students (CONFECH). A larger national student strike, also against profiteering, has been organized by CONFECH for June 28.
