Turns out Dick Roche's adviser was making a little on the side charging Dick (the State) for running a website..

Stephen Kearon - a Fianna Fail member - at the same time as calling for spending cuts, was outed for charging€3250 for a year's hosting of ONE website. When it's a government site (Dick Roche's) you can get away with this - despite calls for "spending cuts".
In the run up to the general election, Twitter was alight (at least for a weekend) with the story, led by @brianmlucey and others. Despite many calls for a clarification of it, Stephen Kearon (@skearon) made no comment. He did block @brianmlucey from his twitter page, however.

This culminated with someone setting up stephenkearon.net and hosting it, spending less than €25. The site is still up as an archive of some of the events.

New press advisor appointed by Noonan 14/11/11 replacing Eoin Dorgan who is gone into the DOF.
No name or details yet. Will post when I find them.

    Yet another hack.

    http://www.irishtimes.com/newspaper/...307637467.html

FORMER JOURNALIST Maev-Ann Wren has been appointed as an adviser to Minister of State Róisín Shortall, although junior ministers had not been expected to appoint advisers.

New Department of Finance guidelines said Ministers of State were not expected to appoint advisers, except in Government-approved exceptional circumstances. “There has been a Government decision specifically in relation to this appointment,” the Government press secretary told a post-Cabinet briefing at which the appointment was announced yesterday.

Ms Wren is a former Irish Times journalist and health policy author, while Ms Shortall has responsibility for primary care at the Department of Health.

We should also keep an eye on where Penrose's two advisers end up. One being unsuccessful general election candidate Aidan Culhane

Question for you FIVE. Yesterdays Indo had a piece on it that listed the Governments finance advisers and said that FG was far more reliant on them than FF had been on theirs. Do we have a behind the scenes technical government or is this just another kitchen cabinet?

Silencing journos by paying them same as Fianna Fail did with civil servants and the 'performance bonuses'. You can be sure that if the Irish Times health sector journalist is being brought in house for an increased salary then there is something nasty approaching to do with the health service.

Fine Gael and Labour are doing the exact same things that Fianna Fail did- they are building their own Galway race tent by putting potential critics on the payroll.

Watch for announcements on health that the Irish Times former 'journo' and now paid ministerial lickspittle would have exposed and analysed- FG are just buying off bad press.

Is it time for violence yet?
Think National. Act Local. Oh- and superstition is just the dark matter of human history.

Hard to know CF given the little power they have in decision making now.
Dispite all the adviors they had it was a fact the FF was completely reliant on the civil service. Something they will struggle without now.
I suppose the difference is we now have the Economic Management Council with Andrew McDowell (forfás) chief economist.

The council consists of Taoiseach Enda Kenny, Tánaiste and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade Eamon Gilmore, Minister for Finance Michael Noonan and Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform Brendan Howlin.

Economic advisers to the Coalition parties and senior officials from relevant departments also attended yesterday morning’s meeting.

Explaining the rationale for setting up the council, Mr Howlin said last night that it would have an “overarching” role in relation to the finance and public expenditure departments.

The council would “constitute an economic driver and determine all economic policy to be driven by both departments”.

Mr Noonan and Mr Howlin will head separate departments, each with its own secretary general, but housed in the same building on Dublin’s Merrion Street.

Mr Howlin said last Sunday the council would be “the decision-making nexus for all economic policy”.

He told RTÉ last night his department and Mr Noonan’s “will be equal departments with Cabinet-rank Ministers, not one superior to the other – with their own secretaries general and deputy secretaries in charge of the divisions”.
They have the status of a Cabinet committee. Therefore only have to report to cabinet and not the Dáil. So we have no idea what they say or do.

    Excellent, FIVE.

If only people would pay us for all the good advice we offer on these boards, we could take early retirement.
