Default Mahon Tribunal due to report after summer recess

According to todays Dail Mail, the Mahon Tribunal is due to return when the Dail returns from its very long summer break.

The findings of the three-judge inquiry, which are 'virtually complete', run into thousands of pages - with one volume dedicated solely to Mr Ahern, sources told the Irish Daily Mail yesterday.
Naturally, no charges are expected to be pressed.

However, it will be great to see the mans reputation in tatters.

Will be interesting to see what the tribunal makes of the payments made to Michael Martin that somehow ended up in Mrs Michael Martins bank account.

And just so FFers can refresh their memories, here is a blast of Michael Martin on Bertie Aherns horse racing story.

One of the wonderful oddities about the tribunal is that criminal charges are beyond it's remit.

Default Maidir Le: Mahon Tribunal due to report after summer recess

it's 'investigative', not 'adversarial'. At least it'll show him for what he really is and put an end to any international reputation he still has left.

I also think this could provide an opportunity for FF to 'break with the past' by denouncing him if the report is worse than expected. Naturally, they will remain corrupt to the core, but by dumping Bertie in it by perhaps expelling him from the party, they could possibly win back some votes from FG come the next election. Martin and the rest will have to think of doing something radical like this because they're doomed to extinction otherwise.

Will be to late for FF, with the presidential election around the corner.

If the Shinners are smart, they will have a candidate ready to milk up more of FF pseudo republican votes, putting FF firmly into Ireland 4th place political party.

SF and FF are so close politically that I can't see why that would be viewed as much of a change.

Just in time to start up a banking tribunal, what else are these tribunal folk going to do? they've been at this mahon one for 15 years, tribunals are a full time job here. Jobs for the boys have to be kept.

When will we have a tribunal to sort of the corruption that could be taking place inside the tribunals? Call it the tribunal tribunal.

They are pointless anyway, very little people are charged.

SF are very different, SF have balls and were prepared to take up arms to fight for what they believe in.

    FF steal, lie and hide.

Thats the whole point about tribunals. They are alternatives to courts. Lawyers get rich same as they would in a court. Politicians can do what they do best without the problem of being caught on a perjury charge. Try out various explanations and excuses.

Thats why tribunals exist. If the legal system was right tribunals would be unheard of.
Think National. Act Local. Oh- and superstition is just the dark matter of human history.

If the Gardai did they job and behaved like a real police force there would be no need for tribunals.

The only reasons tribunals ever kicked off is because of the failure of Gardai to investigate and take action against certain people.

And who appoints the senior Gardai? Doh, its the politicians.

Yes tis great at least he'll be exposed as a crook now. Funny how things like this in other peripheral eu area island countries like iceland end up in prison time for ex pm's yet the cu*t will still get several massive pensions, even the old age pension which im sure hes greedy enough to draw, and limo for state occasions such as the privately held GPO wreath laying ceremonies every easter which are always said to be attended by thousands when really nobody goes because we aren't allowed unless we're elitist traitors.

Back to bertie though, he is lecturing the nigerians, some eastern european countries and some south americans. personally I think anyone stupid enough to pay this idiot 50k for speaking deserves what they get and it would be nice if the Nigerians took him off our hands. Dangerous place west africa and all that.

I would be very hesitant to call Pearse Doherty Thomas Byrne. Populist to an extent perhaps, but not totally lacking a limited alternative once you get rid of adams and mary lou. i wont vote sf as long as either of them lead it or as long as gerry is even a leading policy maker. but implying the left shouldnt vote sf is pointless. after the ULA, they are the only alternative, and could well end up in govt in a few years with whats left of labour and some left ind's. the reforms that can come from that govt should be welcomed, then we toss them out for better things when possible. sf are not even the same as labour in my view, though some in sf might say they could work with many labour backbenchers. never mind ff
