Well, living in Switzerland, I am biased. Federer is seen here as a great ambassador for Switzerland and is a much-loved sportsman. He has been a tremendous exponent of his sport and one of the greatest tennis players in history. At 30, his opportunities in the future to add to his haul of grand slam wins will become less frequent so today is a very important day for him and he knows that he needs to make it count, since neither Nadal nor Djokovic are on the other side of the net.

Federer has been a favourite in this house for so long that we won't switch allegiance readily. Murray will never have the same appeal as a player or in his interviews.

Unless Federer wins the next three, my prediction is wrong.

Well, he got the second 7-5 with a brillaint backhand drop shot.
Parity now at a set all, one game all with Federer 40-0 up on his serve as rain stops play.

    That drop shot was astounding.
One set each, and 2 all now as they resume. The rain on the roof is very noisy, at least for the microphones if not for the players.

Roger turning the screw. 2 sets to 1. He is making a hell of a lot of unforced errors in this match which is quite uncharacteristic. But he is still ahead. Murray nevertheless still in it and the margins are so tight, he could turn it around.

Federer is winning a lot more points at the net which seem to be balancing out the surprising number of unforced errors. (I love the statistics we get at the end of each set.) Othewise they are very well matched .
2-1 now to Murray in the fourth set but my prediction may still be on . Very enjoyable tennis

Well, you were right spectabilis. Federer by 3 sets to 1.

A great champion and a decent bloke.

Will Andy Murray now go back to being Scottish instead of British, now that he didn't beat Federer??????

Actually, fluffy, the interview on court after the match has been the nearest Murray has ever come to displaying any kind of real emotion in an interview.

As for Roger, 7 Wimbledon titles and 17 Grand Slam titles cement his standing in the game as one of the greatest ever tennis players. To put it in perspective, Murray's first set win was the first set he has ever won in a Grand Slam final.

Did Murray crack a smile? Great tennis player but personality wise he never really did anything for me..

Although he was close to tears here....
