Just catching up with the reports on road traffic accidents - March was the safest month for 50 years.
Part of the reason is the improved standard of roads, but its also clear that traffic volumes have dropped.
It's an ill wind that blows nobody any good. I obviously don't welcome uncertainty, mass unemployment, the crashing living standards of the recession, but I hated a lot about the boom.
The insane work pressures have eased (for some people), and the bullshit quotient in public life has reduced. Fewer people have died on the roads.
Anything else good about the recession ?
