Let's not allow anti-Americanism blind us to the wickedness of Islamic terrorism and the justice that was done in taking out Bin Laden.

Is there any reason to believe that these claims are true? Was the body identified by a reliable witness or are we relying on US military sources?

Given Bin Laden was supposedly on his last legs in 2001 and tied to a dialysis machine in Tora Bora, forgive me for being a little sceptical that he could march through the border mountains all the way to Islamabad, evade the authorities for 9 years, and survive as a very sick man through all that. It just doesn't seem logical.

It's not blindness to recognise that the rise in Islamic terror has gone hand in hand with US terror in the middle east.

Don't mean to digress but was watching a late BBC news discussion last night with an American correspondent, that RTE fella O'Connell, a Ugandan doctor and a lady of middle east origin. They were talking about different news topics including the Windsor wedding. The Libya and wider middle east risings were also covered and AV voting. On the AV subject the Ugandan doctor said that all his people want is the right to vote, never mind what type o voting system. And that the US Admin who always shout loudly about democracy are actively backing the repressive regime in Uganda through the CIA.

So should Obama or whoever leads US terrorism at any given time be given justice like Osama?

It is a mistake to turn a blind eye to the fanatical murder of innocent civilians during Al Qaeda's 9/11 attacks, masterminded by the now dead Bin Laden.

It'll be interesting to see what leaders (our own lot included) condone and applaud extrajudicial killing.

Most likely the CIA pulled Osama out of a freezer to 'kill' him. My only question is: what current or coming subject matter are we supposed to miss because we're transfixed by this bs?

Who said Bin Laden masterminded it? He was seen as the spiritual leader of Al Qaeda and played no part in the planning of operations.

Very true Holly. And Osama most certainly does appear on the FBI's most wanted list. Not in connection with 9/11 though...

Likewise the fanatical murder of civilians in Iraq, Afghanistan, and I'll incude Pakistan into that as the US have a habit of dropping bombs in there too. Not to mention the continuous attacks on and undermining of democratic movements throughout Latin America, Africa and Asia over the past fifty years. There is most definitely a bigger terrorist operation than Al Qaeda could ever hope to be already out there.

i must say the officers quarters in the Pakistani military are sumptuous - don't know though if I could live in such luxury without phone or internet connection! I wonder if the airspace around Osama's billet will be cleared for his family to pay their last respects.
