    Post So, It's Goodbye Fianna Fail

    Fianna Fail are in a state of fear after their own secret internal polls reveal they are likely to be reduced to no more than a rump if an election were called.

    "These figures show we're on course to win less than five seats in Dublin," said a Fianna Fail member, adding that if the figures from the three constituencies are replicated nationwide, "no cabinet minister, not even the Tanaiste up in Donegal, is safe.''

    You wish! These buckos will hang in till the very last minute and will come up with a wave of the FF Magic Wand to produce a rabbit out of the hat!That is because the Irish do not really want to stand and fight. Me fein is what it's all about.

    Absolutely. Fianna Fail are one of the certainties of Irish political life.

    Ain't they just - not going the way of the dinosaur anytime soon despite what some might hope for

    There are people who would vote for FF if they sneaked into the home at night, tortured the wife and kids and ran off again. They'd be in the ballot box casting their first preference for 'em the week after.

    On the radio now some speaker mentioned 'all the pillars of Irish society are falling, church banks .... ' but no mention of Fianna Fail .... I thought they were a 'pillar' !!!

    Mightn't have had any pillars in the first place - maybe it was a house of straw all along

    They are a party in decline nonetheless. It is forgotten that even with a booming economy the last election was historically their worst result. Come the next election what exactly are they going to campaign on? They've nothing to sell but a bust economy and a fat bespectacled turd with no charisma.

    Probably correct vis-a-vis Dublin but I am not so sure about Donegal South-West. You could stick an FF rosette on a donkey there and it would get elected. Which probably explains the Tanaiste.

    The SPCA will be after you for that slur on donkeys!

    THE DONKEY
    G.K. Chesterton

    When fishes flew and forests walked
    And figs grew upon thorn,
    Some moment when the moon was blood
    Then surely I was born;

    With monstrous head and sickening cry
    And ears like errant wings,
    The devil's walking parody
    On all four-footed things.

    The tattered outlaw of the earth,
    Of ancient crooked will;
    Starve, scourge, deride me: I am dumb,
    I keep my secret still.

    Fools! For I also had my hour;
    One far fierce hour and sweet:
    There was a shout about my ears,
    And palms before my feet.
