Default Legal first - tortured woman contests conviction

A Belfast woman is going to contest her conviction for paramilitary activity. She is claiming that she was 17 when she was taken into detention were she was subjected to torture, including sexual and physical attacks.

She is the first to take her case to court.

If successful will this lead to the conviction of those who tortured her?

Do you have a link to a report on this. Have people taken cases like this before ? Torture went to the European Court, didn't it ?

In a just society it should. But probably not, look at all the worse attrocities, Bloody Sunday being one, that never amounted to any such actions.

what makes hers the first is that she is contesting the conviction on the basis that it breaches "judges rules" in operation at the time.
