DUP man Mel Lucas defected to the TUV here but received only 600 of the party's 2,400 votes in the south east ward.

The Nationalist vote has been steadily increasing here over the years both in the traditionally Nationalist NW ward around Toome, Randalstown and the Lough Shore as well as the south east around Crumlin, Glenavy and Aldergrove.

SF would be hoping to take a seat in the town ward where they came 5th on 1st prefs in 2005 but transfers are likely to remain non-existant.
