    I havn't paid to see a film in ages, seen this twice. Still love it.
    I lol'd listening to people filing out of the cinema, somebody said: "what just happened?" the other replied "don't look at me."

    There was that confusing scene at the end. Im not going to divulge anymore but my mates are scientists (I dabbled in college for a few years) and they were coming up with all manners of theories and how what happened happened. Its one big huge head screw (Im being polite lol!!)/. Wouldnt mind seeing it again to be honest, its one to get on dvd ...

    The director's cut will be a doozie.
    My take is that it's a variation on the Promethean legend. Prometheus was a titan/giant/demi-god who was punished for eternity for playing god (giving us fire).
    In the film 'fire' is represented by the alien 'weapon'.

    There are numerous semiotic totems throughout the film that signpost this and indicate that if you play with fire, man or god, you're opening a pandoro's box and you're gonna get burned.

    The scene at the end blew me away. It was quite a brash thing for the director to do which essentially reclaims the Alien mythos from directors like Cameron and Jeunet.

    Watched Thought provoking Promethius at the cinema a couple of days ago. I have mixed feelings about the film. Enjoyed it nevertheless. We need more good science fiction films. There were plenty when I was a teenager... lost in Space. :-)

    Yep, me too at first, but any film that causes me to reconsider it afterwards...I'm still thinking about it.

    Came across a classic. State of Siege by Costas Garvas. It is in French but if you click the little cc button at the bottom of the screen the english sub titles will appear.

    Went to see this the other night in the Odeon in town, was not impressed with the Odeon but the new Batman film is great! Wont give too much away but there is a political subtext to the film Think of Bane as Occupy Dame St and Bruce Wayne being a bastion of well to do aristocracy, just who is the bad guy Film ran for 2 hrs 40 mins but it could have been cut a little shorter in some places as in some areas of the film I was gtting bored easily.

    Even with a Phil Collins song on the soundtrack;

    Saw it last night. Definite culminating message in the movie about preserving the status quo at all costs. Also I felt the ambiguous persona of The Batman from some previous incarnations was undermined. Good action flick though, although maybe a bit long as you say.

In fact the British (who were particularly fond of putting Irish soldiers in front of a firing squad - to create an example and to "encourage|" the others) have executed seven times as many soldiers for desertion and/or cowardice as the Germans.
