[quote=antiestablishmentarian;136374]I agree with what Con said before a few weeks back. It is likely that the current oppresion will lead to a civil war sooner or later. It will probably be similar to 1916. The resurgents will probably be in a huge minority, maybe only about a 1000 again, and will be condemned at first. Perhaps thats the only way people will reawaken. Im not saying I want that but you wonder sometimes whether its not worth joining the reserves just in case. Certainly, if this can be avoided, then great. But we need to occupy buildings soon peacefully anyways the way things are going. Personally I think an armed campaign will surface. I think things will just get too much, and a good few years down the line-maybe 2016, maybe not-something will lead to a war. That is usually the consequence of a repressed people and where revolutions dont happen, war becomes the revolution. Objectively as I can say this, and hopefully in the hypothetical sense required not to be perceived as illegally inciting, I see this as inevitable. when people dont rebel they bottle up anger and depression. suicides are on the up atm. But not everyone will lash out that way. It is going to explode, even if it takes years. I suppose thats the hope, obviously with the added aim to avoid war if possible. The markets even see this as quite likely in Ireland. The Tsarists starved people for centuries, and we all know that that led to an armed uprising. The question is, when will it happen here(If we dont get the referendum) and would it be socialist or purely on autonomy? I would love if we could do a France 1968. But we need to really think about how we are going to get freedom back peacefully. If that fails and fails again, what do people realistically expect as the next result? I hope its not illegal to even discuss the likelihood of a civil war. Then again this is the same country where bankers developers politicians etc dont go to jail and people who steal bread/cant afford fines/tv license are jailed. As many a keynesian and marxist lecturer has said to me Ireland is the perfect storm. Anything could happen-anything.
