It's actually not as far fetched as you might believe.
Also, the bit about FF is a just a tiny bit misleading, accidentally suggesting that locally (ie where I live) I was asked to run for FF. This was down in Oughterard to be honest, late at night in a disco, incidentally, and again you have to listen to the entire interview to get the context.
If he was running in Oughterard he'd have an advantage over the local incumbents in that he can walk and talk at the same time. His literacy is an added bonus.
