Thread: HELP! THREAD. For problems with using the site!

Default HELP! THREAD. For problems with using the site!

I have some problems using this site but can't find any way of asking someone about them.

So, I've started this new thread. No doubt an administrator will change it or its title but anyway, here goes:

User CP link does not work. It always says nothing at all has happened since I was last on here. No subscribed threads, no updates, nothing??????

How do I add a signature? Have tried everything but nothing works.

I cannot tell what threads I have previously been on except if I happen to remember their titles, therefore I cannot see if anyone has replied to anything I have written unless I stumble on it accidentally.

What are PW video and PW blog??????

Click User CP and on the left you will find 'edit signature'

PW video is the Politicalworld.org youtube channel. PW Blog is the blog.

If you look up on the right where it says Welcome Junius
Click your name then click statistics and there you will find Find all posts by Junius. That will bring you to all the threads you have posted in.

PW video and PW blog are our youtube channel and Group Blog. You will see links to them in the top navbar- horizontal blue line at the top of the page. Suggestions or submissions for the blog are welcome.

You won't be able to add a signature until you have made 50 posts - functions are limited until then as otherwise we get spammed with unsavoury stuff by spammers. This information is in the Welcome forum, but I was thinking of letting every new member know this by pm. It seems this would be a good idea.

If you look down the forum page, at the bottom is a Site Development forum. You're welcome to post questions and suggestions there any time, or to pm me or any of the Mods and we'll try to help.

I can't help on the tracking of your posts. I read everything here

I expect someone else will be able to, but if there is any problem that needs fixing, I'll deal with it.

Thanks but it's not all plain sailing. There is no link on the left to 'edit signature' in the USER CP area. There is an edit options and lots of other options but I can find no link to either make or edit my signature?? So, still puzzling. Maybe I need 50 posts or something before it becomes visible??

I did find out how to get to all the posts I have made by clicking my own user name and telling me what I'm doing now. It seems more than a bit clumsy and its not useful because I don't want to see what I've written - I would be far more interested in seeing if and what other people have replied to what I wrote. There has got to be an easier and more visible option?? I thought USER CP would bring me to a link to the threads I had posted in but it doesn't.

I know PW video brings you to YouTube but I don't understand why? I don't get the purpose!

Our posts crossed: some of your questions are answered in my previous one.
Its a youtube channel. We haven't done much with it yet, but it brings together a library or archive of material which is referred to on the site. There are different sections to it, including Irish history. It's possible to subscribe to it. Hopefully, during the course of the year, it will take on a bit more shape. It took time for the blog to start moving but its going nicely now with reader numbers building up.

This is working for me. Would anyone like to try and confirm if it works for them or not ?

    Subscriptions
    What are subscriptions?

Subscriptions are a way of keeping track of different threads or forums. You can choose how you are notified about updates - for example by having them listed in your User CP and receiving email updates for each one.

How do I subscribe to a thread or forum?

To subscribe to a forum, click the 'Forum Tools' link above the list of threads then select 'Subscribe to Forum'. You will then have the option to choose the subscription mode for this forum. If the forum that you are subscribing to has any child forums (forums within a forum) then your subscription will be extended to these automatically.

To subscribe to a thread, click the 'Thread Tools' link at the top of the list of posts then click 'Subscribe to Thread'. You can then choose the subscription mode that you wish to use for that thread.

    What subscription modes are available?

There are a number of different forum subscription modes available.

No Email Notification - lists the subscription in your User CP only. You do not receive any notifications about new posts or threads in the forum.
Daily Email Notification - sends one email a day with the new and updated threads in the forum and any sub-forums. If there are no new or updated threads in the forum or its sub-forums then you will not receive an email.
Weekly Email Notification - sends one email per week in the same way as the Daily Email Notification.
Thread Subscriptions have the same options as forum subscriptions with the following additional option:

Instant Email Notification - sends an email as soon as a new post is added to the thread. This is not sent for every reply and will only be sent once until you revisit the forums.
How do I manage Subscriptions and Folders?

Thread subscriptions can be sorted into folders for easy management. You can create as many folders as you wish by going to 'Edit Folders' in the 'Subscribed Threads' section of your User CP. To add a new folder, enter the folder name into one of the blank boxes and save the page. To delete a folder, delete the folder name. Editing a folder is done by simply editing the folder name in the list.

You can also manage your individual subscriptions by clicking 'List Subscriptions' under 'Subscribed Threads' in your User CP. Here you can select which subscriptions you wish to manage and delete them, move them to another folder, or change their subscription type.

Forum subscriptions are not managed through the List Subscriptions page and are shown on the User CP page where they contain the option to unsubscribe from the foru

I've been using it successfully since before the election (to track my constituency and for other threads). Saves having to read all that other stuff
