I won't eat meat, so that's out. So any ideas on the best diet towards helping an MRSA wound to close so they will operate on me next month. I use the usual vits, and fruit and that. Any other ideas on stuff that will heal tissue?

I think nuts, eggs, dairy and tofu would best approximate what you'd get from meat?? Try horse sized vitamin pills?
If you have a dog get him to lick it each day and it will be healed in a few days
Fish. A good mixed diet, broccoli (don't listen to Sam Lord about broccoli) and other dark green veg, mushrooms, avocado, tomatoes, peas, beans, different cheeses, eggs, everything you fancy really, in small portions.
Ignore culmore![]()
Eat Turmeric, it's a spice which contains a substance called curcumin that has been found to speed wound healing in animals.
Also try Gotu Kola, it's a herb [centella asiatica] it reduces healing time and increases strength of healing tissue. 600mg once or twice per day.
Take Bromelain, it is an extract of Pineapple helps reduce swelling in wounds by clearing tissue debris. Usually comes in capasules, take on empty stomach.
Apply Tea Tree oil, use with some warm water and cleanse wound twice per day, it's anti microbial properties will help clear infection that may be hampering the healing process.
Hope those help. Found this re MRSA and wound healing...http://www.google.co.uk/#sclient=psy...b1450fbeebcf39
And then there's always maggot therapy, ready for this?http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maggot_therapy

Thanks everyone, but Trow has supplied exactly what I was looking for. I mean the information, not the stuff.Being a veggie, I won't eat fish C. Flower. I've tried but I can't. The wound is packed and dressed everyday so letting a dog lick it would entail not only poisoning the dog but turning the District Nurse into one. A Rothweiller.

You could ask your doctor about this -

C. Flower, of course I asked the doctor. The surgeon Registrar, yer man who operated on me in 09. On Tuesday just gone, he shook his head, blamed the MRSA and the position of the wound, i.e. everytime I bend or sit down pressure is put on the wound. "so what do you suggest", I muttered, "that I stand or lie flat for the next four weeks?" He patted my hand "it's unfortunate that you broke your femur so soon afterwards. Time, my dear, time." And the patronising git walked out. I'm a great believer in alternative medicine, in fact I have got so desperate at this stage that should a maggot pass my way I am liable to grab it, except I have an un-natural nausea for the feel of such creatures. Were I a maggot, I'm sure I would think other maggots would feel wonderful, but I'm not. Well, some people may have differing opinions on that one, but biological I'm human.
As a bad Buddhist I have many issues regarding life forms which I am trying to address. Running screaming out of the house when a spider is spotted is one of them. Leeches and maggots being used to clean wounds is I know quite a common practice. I would have no objection to that. After all, one accepts that a cat is a carnavore and would not take kindly to a carrot. However, I would rather the Sky Fairy took me than have maggots feasting on me. Were I to be buried when I die they would get their opportunity then, but not until then. Of this I am adamant.

If you look at the link Buddha it is to a number of proper scientific studies into the use of manuka honey in mrsa wound healing.
I deeply sympathise with your predicament, but medical advice is something beyond our expertise here. There are a lot of good specialist sites run by qualified people with information on mrsa.
Perhaps there is an mrsa support group that you could join ?
So in order that I can avoid getting sued by anyone who has an unfortunate experience with a maggot, I'm going to close this thread now.
