Mairead McGuinness and Brian Hayes? .... I think not.

McGuinness might be a possible replacement candidate for Hogan if his nomination is rejected.

Nessa Childers is reserving her position until she meets her European party grouping apparently.

RTE's This Week says that Hogan signed off on documents detailing the spend on Irish Water consultancy fees in October 2013. Problem is that he was telling reporters in January of this year that he wasn't aware of the breakdown of costs for the set up of the utility.
So did he sign the document without reading it or had he a very serious memory lapse in the space of three months?
Worrying stuff from a chap who's going to be put in charge of a 50 billion euro budget shortly.

Phil laying down the law in his new job

Speaking following his confirmation as the European Commission's proposed new trade commissioner, Mr Hogan said there had been a "very good" meeting yesterday between the Taoiseach Leo Varadkar and Boris Johnson, the British prime minister.

"I also note that the British prime minister has moved away from his position…where he's now prepared to look at divergence of certain rules and regulations on the island of ireland vis-a-vis the United Kingdom

On the dance floor, Hogan picks his partners up and twirls them around suspended a few inches above ground level.
