If dreams were lightning, thunder was desire, this whole place would have burned down, a long time ago.

The DUP will be without their big vote getter Jeffrey Donaldson so it will take some top grade vote distribution for them to take a fourth seat. Will any of Jeff's huge personal vote go back to the UUP from where he began?

SF and the UUP will easily hold their seats and barring some exquisite vote management, the transfer friendly Alliance candidate should still be a good bet to retain his seat.

Is SF not likely to lose the seat because of boundary changes?

I was under the impression that changes were only to take effect at the next Westminster election but I may be wrong.

I am wrong, the changes have already taken place and one ward has moved making Lagan Valley (in theory) 6.4% less Nationalist. Changes things dramatically for SF. Likely still to match the SDLP but with little or no chance of transfers.

Further changes planned for next Westminster poll also.

    Another candidate announced

FORMER Ulster Unionist Chief Executive, Lyle Rea, is to fight the Lagan Valley Assembly seat for the TUV in the upcoming election.
All unionist parties should just merge. The merry go round and jumping ship to other parties is beyond a joke.

Expect to see Mr Rea in the PUP this time next year.

    Final Result

    Edwin Poots DUP Count 1
    Basil McCrea UUP Count 1
    Jonathan Craig DUP Count 5
    Trevor Lunn All Count 6

DUP gain here with a SF loss but down to the Nationalist part of the constituency being transferred to W Belfast. Combined Nationalist vote only about half a quota.
