    Default Guerilla Gardening

    Any guerilla gardeners here?

A guy in Golden bridge does splendid work planting shrubs and wild flowers along the Grand canal, where as a boy I watched the Guinness barges chugging from lock to lock.

I plant flowers around trees in our local neighbourhood. Started a trend last year! Neighbour joined in. People I had never spoken to strike up conversations now.

Looks very nice too. Like the idea of guerilla gardening ... quite possibly the nicest way ever invented to saying 'there's more to life than a balance sheet' to officialdom.
Think National. Act Local. Oh- and superstition is just the dark matter of human history.

Ever try seed bombing? Little balls of clay rolled in flowere seeds. ...

Transplanted dozens of forget-me-not clumps around the base of trees and lamposts this morning for 50 metres or so from our home along the main road.

It's that time of the year..some of the blue flowers are already showing. Forget-me-nots self seed and spread themselves nicely.

People in passing cars stare at me! Must be the hat!

I like this - good old fashioned on the ground action

It's that time of year too where Tidy Towns folk get planning for the year ahead and getting visual on the ground. A lot more people should become involved in such activities in their communities. Yes, I realise unemployment is not fun but voluntary work to enhance the appearance of your community is good for all, gets ya out, is exercise and helps to at least temporarily banish the gloom.

There was a fella attending the Jobs Abroad Expo in Cork this week, complaining that the boredom and staying at home was killing him. He and many others don't have to stay at home. They can do useful and self rewarding work right outside their doorstep which benefits all. Pity more don't see it that way

    Ah Well, Thanks for that.

Guerilla gardening Posters should be on display at unemployment centres and elswhere.

Willing and fit young men and women would soon be earning a bonus . There's a great demand for small gardening projects.

Yes I do not need a Gym...never have tho':-)

Wild flowers from last year. Their seeds should be germinating soon. :-)

Guerilla gardening also means a lot of free exercise. No need for the Gym when heavy watering cans transported by hand for 100 meters or so time and time again can be quite invigorating.

In drought times the wheel barrow and sploshing buckets are included. Get on your bike? Now there's an idea!

OT but primroses are out around my hedges for about a week now, is that not very, very early?

Bear in mind how far north I am.

I tend to see them first in April, just before the bluebells explode.
