No, but your complaint is a bit empty because Cowen has been a senior politician for quarter of a century. Minister for Health, Minister for Foreign Affairs, Minister for Finance and Taoiseach,he was able to divert pork into his constituency for decades. I did not hear you voice any concern for constituencies without a minister while he was tending to Laois-Offaly.

It is the "I´m alright Jack!" attitude, so typically Irish, which I find revolting.

No matter what way you look at it, it is a totally failed system, It is rubbish and you wont admit that. You just want a Minister and you will continue throwing your toys out of the pram until you get one.

    Very, very sad.

If you could pause for a minute and read beyond my name on the post you'd see that I'm opposed to the system of ministers abusing their office by slushing funds around their constituencies.

The resignation of Roisin Shortall means that Dublin North West is the 21st constituency with no senior or junior minister.

Dublin South climbs the pecking order as Alex White joins senior colleague Alan Shatter.

Dublin North-West is the only constituency in the country with NO Fianna Fail and NO Fine Gael TD. It is a source of pride to many who live there.

I also am not interested in defending Reilly, but friends in Swords have pointed out that it has the population of DunLaoghaire and very little in the way of medical facilities. I'm afraid population needs to be considered as well as deprivation.

It is a result of the incredibly bad planning which is the normal practice in Ireland. It is systemic and the system is rubbish.

Being proud of what you haven't rather than what you have - Is it any wonder we don't elect good politicians?

Some think that the system is so discredited, so dysfunctional, so geared to fail, that the two main parties guilty of its construction have nothing to offer the country except corruption, cute-hoorism and backwardness.

So they do not vote for them. You might learn something from that in "Parlon Country"

The thing about AB politics, whether it's ABFF, ABFG or ABanyone else, is that it involves no thinking whatsoever. It's utterly mindless.

Really? Voting for FF or FG is pretty mindless in my book!
Or even PD, like those who voted in Parlon. Now, THAT´S mindless!!!

Overloaded health care systems aren't unique to Ireland I'm afraid. It is bad planning though. Some more medical facilities and a train or tram system would fix Swords' issues though

I agree - every area needs decent primary care facilities. The mixed model being used seems to have no logic about it.

There are areas in which GPs don't practice because it is not lucrative and they are poor - building glossy centres won't cure that. Ballymun has a new Centre which is reported to be virtually empty.

There are other areas in which there is plenty of money and GPs should be able to afford good quality clinics without public grants. There is no reason why these need a special programme.

Are you sure there is nothing in Swords ? In Macroom the HSE built a new centre and it closed down a bigger one that was only 8 years old.

Never forget you are dealing with me feínism married with bureaucratic dysfunctionality. A systematic approach - of any kind - as suggested by Shorthall, is out of the question for them.

GPs either have to be paid or otherwise induced to provide services in working class areas.

They don't queue up to provide services pro bono publico in middle or upper class areas either.

Swords has a VHI Swiftcare facility and a GP Now facility. The problem with Swords is its main street which has been killed off by the retail parks and shopping centres driven by Reilly friend and business partner Anne Devitt whose husband is a GP.....
