Poll out at 10 a.m. this morning. It was a poll of 1,500 people.
It shows potential for an overall majority by FG, a devastating rebuttal of Labour's strategy of hitching its wagon to Enda's right wing star.

FG and Lab will still go in together. Gilmore's talk about finding agreement on PS numbers indicated that they will do everything possible to get in despite the polls. Also, FG will want a strong government so they can ram through the IMF/EU austerity policies without having to rely on flaky backbenchers. By all means they might be taken in to support the government but they don't want to be held to ransom by a casino builder from North Tipp or suchlike who wants their back scratched.

Hey, back up.... The Greeks have passed a law liberalising the closed shops of lawyers and the like - as demanded by ECB/EU/IMF...... what chances that will be introduced, never mind passed, here???
Can anybody see the possibility of FG 'ramming through' that??
The people have realised that they have the great opportunity to hit two birds with one stone in this election: tell FF to take a hike and keep the likes of Gilmore, Burton and Bacik away from the levers of power.
Speaking of power, Gilmore was complaing recently about FG and the "monopoly of power", knowing full well (as do the dogs in the streets) that there is no power, "FF has left the incoming government in a straightjacket". Of course, de missus stuffing her coffers with half a mill of taxpayers money didn't go down too well either. People have begun to see through this character.
I dropped out of communism class because of lousy Marx.
It would be a bloody good idea and I think essential in reforming the corrupt little corners in Ireland if the regulation of soclicitors and barristers were brought under one roof.
I don't think self-regulation is appropriate as they've had that. I think we need to look outside Ireland at examples of good regulation of the legal profession from elsewhere.
And for the love of Betty get rid of that utter nonsense Kings Inn and its stranglehold over the 'appropriate persons' list for barristers. AND its funny little channel of making barristers out of 'appropriate persons'. We know what that means in Ireland.
Time for serious change both in the way appointments are made and the profession is regulated.
Think National. Act Local. Oh- and superstition is just the dark matter of human history.
Let Fine Gael have it's day in the spotlight - we all know they would have acted no different than Fianna Fail. And they'll be good little boys for the IMF and the ECB.
It has always amazed me why Labour attached itself to either FF or (mostly) to FG - but I realise now that Labour's purpose has been the attainment of power all along - not articulating for workers and their families and a more decent society.
Private Fine Gael polls are showing up something similar to this - except FG have a bit more of the undecided.
Give me a misty day, pearly gray, silver, silky faced, wide-awake crescent-shaped smile
"Time for change", "this country needs change" ...........etc.
Already we're now looking at the election after this as an opportunity for change.
Perhaps then, when all the mainstream parties have had their day, the electorate will see that it's all been a big dupe.
Or perhaps we'll elect FF, who, no doubt, will campaign on the promise of "change".
I think I'll borrow Inda's whiskey and revolver![]()
