I thought Lyons was going to give Vincent a slap in the face.

Daily Mail journos who laud TV3 murder crime sensationalism may not be happy when they are accused of treating crimes according to the level of celebrity of the deceased.

It is the government that is playing at raising expectations - Noonan was at it again yesterday, aided and abetted by the IT.

Looks like a promising topic, let's hope the panel lives up to it.

Is Tony Fahey an ex Priest? Priest?

He has failed to mention that after WW2 in Britain it was either bring in a welfare state or quite possibly face a revolution.

The priest will huff and puff outrage at the reporting of the McAreavey trial.

    Ah.

It's a very important topic, but he is not shedding much light on it.
Post WW2, a generation of young men - trained soldiers - came back from from the war who had been reading and discussing social transformation - in the shadow of Soviet inspiration ....

The political classes of Britain, and other states, took a big step back, printed money, took the US dollars, and conceded a "great leap forward" - free health and education services, decent wages....

The forced repatriation of soviet soldiers might have inspired some thought too.

I don't think it, and its outcome, would have been known at the time. And in terms of the overall events of the war, in which 25 million Russians were killed, I don't think it would have been the thing uppermost in peoples' minds.
