This is the old map, the constituency has been extended since then. The Constituency Commission which reported in 2007 proposed transferring a large number of voters from Cork East and Cork North West into Cork North Central, over 4,000 from each area. The government accepted this and put it into law in the 2009 Electoral Amendment Act. This brought Watergrasshill, Dromahane, Glenville, Burnfort and other areas into the constituency.

You can find the current map on the Constituency Commission's website at www.constituencycommission.ie (direct link to PDF map http://www.constituency-commission.i...%5Ccon2007.pdf

listening to the buzz from people up there all week... Kelleher could struggle big time, even with O Flynn gone. Allen's vote could go all over the place. SF have a great chance of a seat here, from what I listened to, ULA could cause a bit of an upset..maybe not a seat but Barry will put the frighteners on all of them.

Wasn't mangalated enough for my taste. The city is going to have to live with the shame of three of them hoors misrepresenting it!
"It is we the workers who built these palaces and cities here in Spain and in America and everywhere. We, the workers, can build others to take their place. And better ones! We are not in the least afraid of ruins. We are going to inherit the earth; there is not the slightest doubt about that. The bourgeoisie might blast and ruin its own world before it leaves the stage of history. We carry a new world here, in our hearts."

I'd like to see where Mick Barry's vote came from. My suspicion is that he didn't get many votes from outside his stomping ground in the city's northside (Blackpool, Churchfield, Shandon, Farranree, and some adjacent areas. The strong Jonathan O'Brien SF campaign which would have focused on the same area (but with the added advantage of being able to draw some votes from the rest of the constituency) wouldn't have helped either.

The Socialist Party are deluding themselves if they think that they can get a Dáil seat here with only one councillor and one ward as their electoral base.

    GE 2011 First preferences.

    Sinn Féin Jonathan O'Brien 15.2% 7,923

Labour Party Kathleen Lynch 14.7% 7,676

Fianna Fáil Billy Kelleher 15.1% 7,896

Fine Gael Dara Murphy 12.7% 6,597

Fine Gael Pat Burton 13.6% 7,072

Labour Party John Gilroy 11.7% 6,125

Socialist Party Mick Barry 9.2% 4,803

    New Vision Pádraig O'Sullivan 2.0% 1,020

    Independent Kevin Conway 1.8% 958

Workers' Party Ted Tynan 1.3% 681

Green Party Ken Walsh 1.0% 524

If there were an election now.

Adjusted to the Red C January 2013 and local conditions.

    Sinn Féin Jonathan O'Brien 29.1% 15,205

Fianna Fáil Billy Kelleher 18.2% 9,529

Socialist Party Mick Barry 11.2% 5,864

Fine Gael Pat Burton 10.5% 5,485

Fine Gael Dara Murphy 9.8% 5,116

Labour Party Kathleen Lynch 8.3% 4,352

Labour Party John Gilroy 6.7% 3,472

1 SF O'Brien, 1 FG Burton or Murphy, 1 FF Billy Kelleher, 1 SP Mick Barry, well maybe because O' Brien won't get that 29% and Barry could easily poll higher than 11.2%?
