Default Electionlit Unearths: The First Dáil

A wonderful poster here, unearthed by Electionlit - of the members of the First Dáil, in 1919.

Thanks to electionlit for another year's great collation, archiving and blogging of Irish election literature of all kinds.

What strikes me is the number of people there. Far, far more than sat throught the debate on the 4 year plan or the IMF agreement in the last four weeks.

The Oireachtas is merely a sub-comm-itt-eee now, shuffling paperwork on behalf of its EU and IMF overlords.

Two years later they were still there, still giving out about Protestants.

What a contrast between Mr Mulcahy and Mr vowed “by God” that, if war should be renewed, every loyalist in his brigade area would go to the wall! What a difference between this quiet little man and Mr Seán Mac Entee, whose strident voice was raised on the side of chaos!

Yep its a great poster, so many famous names.
I wonder if many of them don't have a Street , Estate, Barracks etc named after them?
