Assange has been told he will receive asylum in Ecuador. Some people saying this is because the president of Ecuador clamping down on private media wanted to paint himself in a good light with forthcoming elections. Now the million dollar question, how do we get him to Ecuador, will the British arrest him the minute he steps foot outside the embassy? Is there anything that can be done to ensure his safe passage?

What Assange done was both idiotic and clever. Idiotic in that he didnt figure how he could get but clever in that no one saw it coming and he knew he had friends there.

If they violate the embassy then any warrant would be invalid. This is going to be interesting in seeing how it plays out...

    Arrest might be illegal..

The 1961 Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations codified a custom that has been in place for centuries when it established the "rule of inviolability".

This states that local police and security forces are not permitted to enter, unless they have the express permission of the ambassador - even though the embassy remains the territory of the host nation.

The English have their own law which authorizes the Foreign Secretary to revoke the diplomatic status of any embassy and they have told the Ecuadoran government that they can do this.
A crowd is building in the west London street outside the embassy. Assange supporters are using social media to urge people to gather at the location.

Anti-terror law that gives them virtually carte blanche to do anything.
    Disgraceful stuff.

They used anti-terror law against Iceland to force payment of private bank debt.

Assange has been granted asylum by Ecuador. The British Government says is will extradite him to the US, which sounds like a threat to the status of the Embassy.
Apparently the only way he can legally get from Britain to Ecuador is to be made a Ecuadoran diplomat, but it seems that the British may not respect that status.

    Swedes sticking their oar in.

In terms of their law, to the best of my memory he was subject of allegations of non-consensual risk of impregnation of women who had consensual sex (not wearing a condom). It is seriously not good behaviour, but I'm not sure if it is an offence in Britain.
