He compares the attacks on Assange to those that he suffered with the release of the Pentagon Papers.

They said the same Ellsberg/Assange **** about the journalistic genius Neil Sheehan too.

    And guess what?

Mastercard has fallen victim a cyber attack which appeared to have been orchestrated by supporters of Wikileaks.

How do we know that? If it is possible to know anything from the above Irish Times Clown, Jack Horgan-Jones.
Well on Monday a Swiss bank - well done Switzerland - shame you were not so fcuking quick with the fcuking Nazis - closed the account of Mr Assange and...they too got cyber hit.

And when the IT weasel gets to the final para - he tells us that it is thought a loose ad network of internet freedom of speech activists called Anonymous is behind the MasterCard attack.

The only thing of interest in the whole journalistic facade is the following:
"The Anonymous group is believed to have originated on internet message board 4Chan."

Wouldn't a little make believe be nice.

IT IS BELIEVED THAT FREEDOM GEEKS KILLED THE IT SYSTEM.

Failing that a man with an AK in the front door.

WikiLeaks cables: US 'lobbied Russia on behalf of Visa and MasterCard'

US diplomats intervened to try to amend draft law so that it would not 'disadvantage' US credit card firms, cable says

The US lobbied Russia this year on behalf of Visa and MasterCard to try to ensure the payment card companies were not "adversely affected" by new legislation, according to American diplomats in Moscow.

A state department cable released this afternoon by WikiLeaks reveals that US diplomats intervened to try to amend a draft law going through Russia's duma, or lower house of parliament. Their explicit aim was to ensure the new law did not "disadvantage" the two US companies, the cable states.

Assange's lawyer say Us indictment rumoured to be on its way or may have already been filed so the extradition case to watch will be the US extradition case.
    • Julian Assange's lawyer are preparing for a US spying charge against their client. Jennifer Robinson told the Guardian that Assange team had heard "several different US lawyers rumours that an indictment was on its way or had happened already, but we don't know."

I'm not sure that I'm convinced that this is factually correct.
Ironic the CIA would do this as America is a pro-christian state. Another bullshit conspiracy. been the same since the socialist Guatemalan govt of 1951-55 was overthrown by the CIA. They are the true American Gestapo. In any case having said this, if I end up in mountjoy for alleged rape or murder, or any other trumped up charges, ye know why. Anyone who says anything anti-cia that is listened to, is a criminal crackpot apparently.

Assange has been released on bail in London today. The US has not taken any action or sought his extradition.

They're having awful troubles finding any law that could be applied.

    Elsewhere in the news:

    Funding illegal Israeli settlements? Priceless

At this stage WikiLeaks has breached no international law and no laws of any country, but Mastercard, Visa and PayPal have all blacklisted it. All three continue to enable the support of settlements that are in breach of international law, in some cases of Israeli law, and in defiance of US policy on settlements under successive Republican and Democrat administrations.

They may have a good reasons for it as they could follow him around & get his bearings, his places, where he logged in, which isp he uses et al.

He should return to Sweden voluntarily and face the charges. From what I've read he's unlikely to be convicted of anything. He's had some major social hitters offer to put up bail in the UK, influential sorts like Jemima Khan.

Its enjoyable this as normally the US would just disappear someone like Assange but because the world's cameras are following him there's nothing they can do. Its quite ironic that a state that went repressive before our eyes is struggling because their target isn't in the shadows but is a global household name.

Its like watching China watching the Dalai Lama.

Good-oh ... I didn't think they could hold him considering (a) he's broken no British laws and (b) it wasn't the Swedish government who asked for him to be held.

Bloody Yank Embassy pulling Brit strings again that was ... I hear some of the papers are talking about some 'Grand Jury' which has been empanelled without any publicity across the Potomac to see if they can try Assange.

Brilliant. I remember the Soviet show trials on tv from the 70's and I also recall the screeching and pontificating the yanks used to go on with over the subject.

Funny to think that the yanks feel they are entitled to 'try' someone who has never stolen any documents, is not a member of any terrorist organisation and who has simply released papers which confirm the yanks are about as honest as they look.

    Gawdayyam that there 'unAmerican' Australian.

Someone tell Palin where Australia is FFS.

US Offers WikiLeaker Bradley Manning A Plea Deal To Rat Out Julian Assange

The US government still seems hell-bent on prosecuting WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange for embarrassing it.

So much so that it is now said to have offered alleged WiliLeaks source Bradley Manning a plea deal for ratting out Assange.

Bradley Manning, you will recall, is the Army private who is thought to have sent WikiLeaks confidential information about America's conduct in Iraq. Manning has been in solitary confinement in Quantico for 7 months, where he is being deprived of exercise, sheets, and a pillow.
U.S. Trying to Build Conspiracy Case Against WikiLeaks’ Assange

U.S. federal prosecutors are looking for evidence that would help them bring conspiracy charges against WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, according to the New York Times.

Prosecutors are looking for anything that would suggest Assange encouraged or helped Manning leak classified information by giving him instructions on how to download files or requesting that Manning obtain certain kinds of documents to send to WikiLeaks.

As Threat Level reported earlier this week, a conspiracy charge for helping steal classified documents would help prosecutors avoid First Amendment issues that would arise if they tried to prosecute Assange under the Espionage Act.
