Assange may be protected in trial if he goes to the US and is seen as a journalist

    http://www.theaustralian.com.au/news...-1226473021206

...If Mr Assange - who refers to himself as editor-in-chief of WikiLeaks, rather than its founder - were accepted as a journalist the tag could protect him during any US trial, Mr Mori said.

"I agree with you, I think he's a journalist, I think he publishes on the internet, but that could be an issue still," he told a questioner at the Greens-run event.

    http://rt.com/news/assange-condom-no-dna-277/

Read about this a couple of days ago and meant to post it. Russia Today reporting that there is no evidence that a torn condom from the scene had any of Assanges DNA on it. Now while this is from one of his accusers it does raise new questions around the issues of the charges and does not paint the plantiffs in a good light does it? The claims look all the more strange when the report says

However, his second accuser, now 29, who claimed to have been raped in her sleep by Assange, apparently told police she had not been opposed to having unprotected sex with him despite previous statements to the contrary, the daily reported.

The Swedes have let themselves down badly with the way they handled all this.

Breaking News: Julian Assange Mossad Agent!
    by ISRAEL SHAMIR

Iran is a great country for kebab; their pretty if well-covered girls are fine; but sense of humour is just not their forte. Their state media repeatedly broadcasted items lifted from the Onion, a satirical magazine taking them for literal truth. The Onion ran a story about American farmers who would rather have a drink with Ahmadinejad than with Obama, and their Fars news agency duly reprinted it. The Onion faked an interview with Mark Zuckerberg, and Iranian state-owned Press TV took it for a real thing.

And now, a new faux-pas. The same Iranian state-owned Press TV published an attack on Julian Assange with a bombastic claim: “Exclusive: Assange-Mossad ties unveiled”. A brief check shows an identical piece appeared on The Veterans Today site. Both pieces are identical, both “exclusive” and both written by the same person, a Gordon Duff, wearing two hats, that of “the chief editor of VT” and that of a “columnist of Press TV”. Oy, it would be better to stick to the Onion.

News in the next few days as to whether Assange's friends who put up bail money for him could lose it. Some have apparently lost some money..

The potential case against Assange in Sweden may soon fold.

But no one feels any sympathy for Borgström anymore. Withhold evidence from several courts? Say not a word as eight trials are derailed? Personally engineer the persecution of Julian Assange? Nope. The Swedish people won't have it anymore.

Borgström's the one who wrote to the prosecution authority, requesting the Assange case be reopened. He's the one who claimed his two 'clients' had testified 'each on their own and independently'. He's the one who insisted he be appointed their legal counsel because of the persecution in the media, this despite the fact that the identity of the one still wasn't known and the identity of the other was discovered only a day earlier.
Claes Borgström: 'I feel deeply violated'

I'm afraid that I can't vouch for the authenticity or reliability of this site, I got the link from Wikileaks' Facebook page. However, the links included in the article make for very interesting reading.

The WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange is suffering from a chronic lung ailment that could worsen at any time and is being checked regularly by doctors, Ecuador's ambassador to Britain has said.

Assange, 41, has been holed up inside Ecuador's embassy in London since June to avoid extradition to Sweden for questioning over rape and sexual assault allegations. Assange has denied any wrongdoing.

"He has a chronic lung complaint that could get worse any time. The Ecuadorean state is covering Mr Assange's medical costs and we have arranged for regular doctor visits to check on his health," the ambassador, Ana Alban, told a local TV network during a visit to Quito.

In the second half of the below episode, Max Keiser talks to ‘the Thomas Jefferson of the internet,’ John Perry Barlow about his new website, pressfreedomfoundation.org, started with John Cusack and Daniel Ellsberg and dedicated to circumventing financial blockades and, thus, enabling donations to such groups as WikiLeaks and others dedicated to transparency and journalism.

Assange may be running for a seat in elections in Australia. Julia Gillard, the Australian PM has called for elections for September this year which caught some people on the hop. His mother has confirmed that he will run if the opportunity arises. Wish him good luck, would shake the Aussie establishment.
