Ugly and all as that tax-free status seemed, it turned Ireland from being an also ran into a world leader in the Thoroughbred Breeding Industry. While it's fair enough to attack the unfairness of the tax-break, it has worked out much better than could have been imagined in the wildest dreams of those who introduced it. It supports a lot of jobs in the stud business, stud staff, Farriers, Vets, feedstuff suppliers, sales auction staff, Trainers and their staff, Accountants, the hotel staff that work in the local hotels that the buyers stay in when coming to purchase the horses or to see them . If all tax-breaks were as revenue positive as that one the country would be doing very well.
