The HSE aspect of the McCabe Tribunal started to day.

Noirin O'Sullivan's son (acting as a 'photographer') was with Paul Williams when he interviewed Miss D about claims of sexual assault that have been deemed as false. This is a fact which emerged at the Charleton Tribunal but is not being reported by the media.

The above is from Look Left (workers party organ) Facebook. Any idea if it's true?

No - I don't. I listened to quite a lengthy report on RTE on what sounded like a total morass in HSE and the Gardai. A swamp.

Says as much about Williams as it does about the Gardai.

Will the NUJ be taking action against this muppet for bringing their profession into disrepute?

The relations between the Garda Press Office and the media in Ireland have been akin to feeding time at at the zoo - throw anything at them and they will bite.

Particularly obvious is the way that immediately after some particularly appalling revelation about the Gardaí, there will be some puffed up extravaganza in the press about a drugs or arms 'haul'....

Journalism in Ireland is a sham.

In general journalism is on its death bed. Campaigning journalism is dead. Its place has been taken by passionate bloggers and activists.
Professional journalism constitutes merely editorialized press releases and opinion pieces from well connected *********. Not to mention the click bait!

Anywhere else but this gombeen country she would have been gone long ago.

What gets me is the "official Ireland" response to the current crisis in AGS. We are asked to believe that corruption and lying in An Garda Síochána will come as a surprise to the average Irish citisen. Well no, it won't.

Nether is it news to Judges, Solicitors or Barristers who accept it as a given and work around it.

I suspect that the reluctance in the Garda to embrace more civilians in administration positions is that those positions are useful for putting Garda who might be inclined to tell the truth, even if it meant reporting another "member" for a crime.

But worry not folks, Commissioner Noirin wont go hungry. She will be entitled to a huge gold-plated pension.

    ---------
On a completely different tract and unrelated to the above, I was recently wondering where the demarcation point is between ordinary folk who get sacked for being incompetent, dishonest and generally acting like a smart Alec when been questioned and those whose punishment is a big fat pension.
Somewhere way above my level, that's for sure
