Those pictures bring back memories... wet ones.
Hope you guys are all ok.
Pretty awful weather here in Cork overnight and I pity the folk who are bearing the brunt of the aftermath. Was on the South Link at the beginning of it yesterday night and the driving conditions were scary. Then a rattle of thunder almost lifted the roof off the house in the early morning - some night

Miserable for people affected. That's not spring water either, but a mix of river, drains and sewers. Very few evacuations though it seems.
Here in my little bit of Mayo it has been, relative to some other places, poor Belfast, poor Cork! relatively dry. I recall similar floods last year. It seems to me that our money would be better spent in making our cities and homes water proof rather than splashing the whole lot on a load of wankers...Bring back hanging!
Hope fellow Cork posters are safe and sound![]()
They may crush the flowers, and trample every living thing but they cant stop the spring..

After a heat index of 111F on Friday, we had a very unusual storm on Friday night. Lots of lightning, very little thunder, very little rain, lots of wind. Result is in a an area of 2,000 sq miles about 1.3 million homes, nearly half the total, are without power,
yours truly inc. 600 out of 800 traffic lights in my county are out. Grocery stores, Gas stations, bank ATM’s McDonalds etc all closed. Long lines at any that are open. Supplies being rationed in some places. Power out at some water filtration plants. Mandatory water usage restrictions. What seemed at the time to be a relatively minor storm, has had a major impact. Power companies report some “catastrophic” failure of plant and equipment that will have to be replaced before power can be restored to homes and businesses. People are expecting to be without power for up to a week. A lesson in how fragile modern infrastructure is, kinda like a dry run for the aftermath of a cyber attack. I’m grabbing some WiFi from the parking lot of a Starbucks that is overflowing. Back later.
