That is very interesting: thanks. The French working class after all took the lead in the early 19th century and can do so again. They are far more geared to use their actual power - numbers, capacity to withdraw their labour.
Do you remember a couple of years back when there were mass protests and trouble with police brutality, they cut electricity supplies to some of the police stations ?

They may prove unco-operative yet again. It would almost make you think the cops had a sense of humour:

France's main police union on Tuesday pleaded with workers to put off a national day of demonstrations on Thursday against a controversial labour law saying they are too "exhausted" to cope with protests on top of dealing with the Euro and terror threats.

The plea came as workers unions opposed to the labour law categorically rejected government demands that any demonstration on Thursday in Paris must be "static" after previous marches through the French capital ended in violent standoffs with police and vandalism.

After days of protests and riots against an apparently appalling police attack on a young man (still in hospital), a cop has been arrested for rape.

Some good photos of the protests in the Sun. "Justice for All" a slogan appearing both in France and in Ireland this week.

Tempted to say, move on, nothing new... It was in the 93 area. The cop in question has form, but, like another police force I know, he was still working.

Fillon trying to milk it, supported by Sarko.
