The Post reports on the storming of the refinery blockades last Friday. It also says that in spite of the week's mid-term holidays, all young people and students are called out to demonstrations wherever they are on Tuesday and the other Unions are also looking for ways to intensify their action.

They got one little fact incorrect: schools are off this week but universities are not on holidays.

I think it is rather stupid when you consider the first place a person will call in a physical threat is the Police Station.
Why not cut it off to the houses of all Politicians where no harm will come to the ordinary people. Think about it.

The cops are not likely to be the first person you'd call in an emergency in France: they're mostly thugs, who enjoy abusing their power and intimidating people if they think they can get away with it. The CRS especially are an awful shower.

Students are out today all over France, the main unions are voting on whether to continue with strikes. Rubbish piling up and the Government, as was clear from the start, has no intention of backing down.

It would be a matter of getting Sarkozy out, to take things forward. Maybe People Korps will sort it.

It is a pity they fail to seize the moment but the struggles continues. Next thing he tries to pull will bring general strike and Sarkozy knows it: so I would say he is a lame duck until the next election in 2012.
