    Default Independents

I tossed out this suggestion in another Thread.
We are living in a State where it would seem nobody trusts Mainstream Partys.
We currently have a few Independents who will not upset the Psrty line for some weird reason.
However, if in a new GE there were a serious number of Independents, they may hold the balance of power. I am talking the pragmatic, intelligent people who feel the brunt of this new life.
This could force Political action to toe the line. I am sure the good Posters here could discuss and build on this thought. If you believe it is wrong, fine. it is just an idea.

Not quite sure what you are suggesting, Life. Do you mean that more people should be standing as independents?

Yes that is exactly what I mean. We have capable intelligent people now idle that could run for office. If there are enough they have lived the real horror and could make an immedite impact in a new Government. But they must hold the balance of power.

There is a very important element in that theory ... the voter ... obviously for that to work would entail a sizeable proportion of the Electorate not deciding to vote for mainstream party types .. and I honestly cannot see that happening with Irish voters in the main whatever they may say or do or moan about

You may be correct, but I feel there is enough anger out there for them to succeed. 15/20 Independents could make a major impact. As I said, it is just a thought worth discussing.

Would you like to recount for the merriment of all what happened to the independent you yourself devoted so much time and effort in assisting

Sure to feed your attitude. I, lifeisagame tried to assist an elderly person in Local elections. The effort failed but the man was vindicated by how close he came. I am sure youngdan finds this to be great amusement. But I tried something i never did before and it failed. Does that satisfy you youngdan or do you wish to rehash every moment for personal pleasure?
Sorry, one question, what did you try to help the Country?

    Admit it.

The candidate took ye all for a ride by grabbing onto an emotion issue to try to ride it's coattails to an easy job for himself

    A Me-Feiner to the core.

Well, you're certainly not outed regarding anything to be ashamed of. Most successful independents are already established within a community before run. It's a bit late in the day for trying to get a support base to work from. Are you thinking of running yourself?

Absolutely no, I would probably make a mess of it as my thinking is too international commercial and I prefer to try keep jobs coming in by direct action rather than nonsense debates.Besides I am too old and we need young blood.

I did make an attempt at entering the Political arena. It was not something I am proud of, I failed, in my eyes very badly. If anyone wants the details just ask. Young dan will supply and i will not be commenting further.

I think the best thing to do here now is for all to leave well alone and continue on with this potentially worthwhile Thread

I wasn't being facetious, I was just hoping that you were aware of the uphill struggle a prospective independent would face trying to establish yourself at this late point.

Regarding your attempt at entering the arena; it's not an easy thing to break into what is pretty much a golden circle.
