Default September 11th: lest we forget

As everyone knows tomorrow is the 9th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks but it is also the 37th anniversary of the Pinochet coup in Chile, which resulted in more deaths and was the first example of the transition to the neo-liberal model which has since gone on to become the global trend in world capitalism.

I watched "Missing" by Costas Gavros, and would recommend it to anyone wanting to get the feel of the horror of the coup.

The antidote would be the excellent documentary made by Irish film makers of a failed US backed coup against Chavez. Anyone remember the name of it ?

The elements of the picture I remember of that awful day is the mostly fearful eyes of the people gazing upwards at the attacking aircraft .... I think it was the last picture taken of President Salvadore Allende alive.

Give me a misty day, pearly gray, silver, silky faced, wide-awake crescent-shaped smile

    The Drogheda September 11th:

After the massacre, Oliver Cromwell declared to the English Parliament, "I am persuaded that this is a righteous judgment of God upon these barbarous wretches, who have imbued their hands in so much innocent blood and that it will tend to prevent the effusion [shedding] of blood for the future, which are satisfactory grounds for such actions, which otherwise cannot but work remorse and regret."

Bono is a tool, but I always loved this tune about what happened in Chile in 1973, and the clips on this youtube vid are heartbreaking...

Any such calculation is abitrary because the death toll increases daily. It's not a spontaneous phenomenon as people planned and conspired to bring this state of affairs about. On that note, why were you encouraging people not to think?
"Do not be misled by the promises of politicians. Remember that the whole history of Ireland is a record of betrayals by politicians and statesmen, and remembering this, spurn their lying promises and stand up for a United Ireland - an Ireland broad based upon the union of Labour and Nationality." - James Connolly.

It should require no more thought as the facts are evident proven and well known. 9/11 was used as a legitimization of war mongering and war mongering has led to collapse of Western capitalism leading not to mpre democracy but the rise of potential totalitarian threats to the very country that decided to fly the democracy banner in Iraq
    The USA
