It wont be a very long war, as it would a war of survival for Israel. Israel with their back to the wall would not take long to sort the other regional players out. 1967 will look like a warm up.

Simply targeting a country water and power supplies effectively alone would end any war pretty quickly.

Mr Lenihan said the guarantee was “the cheapest bailout” compared with bank rescues in other countries, including the UK and the US, where “billions and billions of taxpayers’ money are being poured into financial institutions” - October 24 2008

There's are quite densely located, Isreal has 100 of these http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GBU-43/...Air_Blast_bomb Do they have 100 C41 transport planes to drop them at once?
    MOABs,
Hezbollah still kicked their bums in Lebanon, an obtuse war would be very disorientating for Israel.
For example deep penetration of national territory by strange forces.
If special forces can operate in Afghanistan then they can operate is Israel.
I am sure there are many Revolutionary Guard who speak perfect Yiddish and Hebrew

Israel would win easily, Turkey, UK and USA on side. Along with a few Arabs quietly helping.
    Iran is useless militarily.

Yes, but when the chips are down F16s will hit Iran from the north.

Sizzler missiles? As Hezbollah and Iran have them then other Navies have a big problem

The Sizzler starts at subsonic speeds. Within 10 nautical miles of its target, a rocket-propelled warhead separates and accelerates to three times the speed of sound, flying no more than 10 meters (33 feet) above sea level. On final approach, the missile 'has the potential to perform very high defensive maneuvers,' including sharp-angled dodges, the Office of Naval Intelligence said in a manual on worldwide maritime threats.
and no defense with tests not starting til 2014

Things change the world is not the same, Israel is not omnipotent in any way shape or form

The US is also continuing its provocative encirclement of Russia and China:

That is inaccurate. Iran has been channeling billions into developing their military for the last 20 years, their military capability is formidable.

So we're predicting another Lebannon 2006? I doubt this will happen, Israel cannot afford to annoy anone at the moment (I mean militarily, whatever about East Jerusalem etc). I don't care who's in charge, they have sensible bureaucrats.

Although isn't there trouble with the foreign minister and corruption charges? I wouldn't put it past the bugger to try and distract us all.

Somehow I doubt that you mean that literally.

The situation in the middle east is complex, or can appear to be. Most media reporting of conflicts is very lazy and unhelpful and stays at the level of portraying one bunch of crazies going at another. That is exactly how the British media have always portrayed the Irish conflict - as random and senseless sectariansim.

The truth is that that there are rational reasons for these conflicts - they come out of power struggles for national liberation, or over resources like oil, or strategic geopolitical control.

Even the use of one or two nuclear weapons would devastate the region and make huge areas uninhabitable.

The results of using small depleted uranium weapons, as the Israelis have in the Lebanon and the US in Iran, have been horrific birth defects and a miserable life for little children affected by them.

Can't - I'm in a quiet room. Do they belong here, or on our Predictions for 2010 thread ?
