Default 'Obama Prepares Total Destruction of Iran' - Update - Iran Says UN is a Pawn of the US

Across the Middle East, a fatalistic conventional wisdom is taking hold, namely that war is unavoidable. Some see war as a way of resolving an increasingly deadlocked situation, as shaking up a dysfunctional regional order whose main actors are not only at loggerheads, but are also incapable of resolving the legitimacy deficits of their respective regimes.

A volley of incendiary remarks exchanged recently between Israel on the one side and both Syria and Hizbullah on the other has fueled anxieties about the possibility of war on Israel’s northern border. The level of sensitivity is such that the latest tension was initiated by the Syrians, who misinterpreted as a threat Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak’s call to start peace negotiations precisely in order to prevent “an all-out regional war.”

Hizbullah’s leader, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, for the first time explicitly warned the Israelis that a new round of conflict would no longer be confined to an Israeli-Lebanese showdown, but would involve the entire regional “axis of confrontation” – Syria, Iran, Hizbullah, and Hamas. This would also be the case if Israel unleashed its air force against Iran’s nuclear installations. Moreover, Nasrallah made it clear that Israel’s “Dahyia Doctrine” of total devastation of Lebanon in case of war would be answered in kind.

I think there's very little doubt that a major war, starting in the middle east, is on the horizon. It's only a matter of time.

There are serious efforts under way to destabilise Turkey, with recruitment of Kurds to fight there under way across Europe.
The Kurds have been repeatedly used to destabilise Iraq and Turkey over the years.

The strategy is to balkanise the planet: divide and rule.

Iraq being the template. Great picture.

Well, they've won the Eurovision twice. All they have to do is comply with ECB requirements and they're in.

    Default The Road to Armageddon...

The Road to Armageddon: The Insane Drive for American Hegemony Threatens Life on Earth
    Paul Craig Roberts:

Prior to 9/11 the American neoconservatives were explicit that the wars of aggression that they intended to launch in the Middle East required “a new Pearl Harbor.”

For their own good and that of the wider world, Americans need to pay attention to the growing body of experts who are telling them that the government’s account of 9/11 fails their investigation. 9/11 launched the neoconservative plan for U.S. world hegemony. As I write the U.S. government is purchasing the agreement of foreign governments that border Russia to accept U.S. missile interceptor bases. The U.S. intends to ring Russia with U.S. missile bases from Poland through central Europe and Kosovo to Georgia, Azerbaijan and central Asia. [see www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=va&aid=17709 ] U.S. envoy Richard Holbrooke declared on February 20 that al Qaida is moving into former central Asian constituent parts of the Soviet Union, such as Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Kazakhstan. Holbrooke is soliciting U.S. bases in these former Soviet republics under the guise of the ever-expanding “war on terror.”

The U.S. has already encircled Iran with military bases. The U.S. government intends to neutralize China by seizing control over the Middle East and cutting China off from oil.

This plan assumes that Russia and China, nuclear armed states, will be intimidated by U.S. anti-missile defenses and acquiesce to U.S. hegemony and that China will lack oil for its industries and military.

The U.S. government is delusional. Russian military and political leaders have responded to the obvious threat by declaring NATO a direct threat to the security of Russia and by announcing a change in Russian war doctrine to the pre-emptive launch of nuclear weapons. The Chinese are too confident to be bullied by a washed up American “superpower.”

The morons in Washington are pushing the envelop of nuclear war. The insane drive for American hegemony threatens life on earth. The American people, by accepting the lies and deceptions of “their” government, are facilitating this outcome.

    Dominoes...

US cannot account for $8.7B in Iraqi funds

not exactly following this thread, but an interesting article here from Yahoo about the missing Iraq billions followed by thousands of comments, mainly from the US, horrific to see the views of many who are getting their news from Fox etc, many are really not clued in at all.................. swallowing lies whole

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100727/...pphu-container

but there is an excellent comment from "Seamus" below:

Wake up people! Democrat or Republican or Tea Party; Obama or Palin or Bush; liberal or conservative or centrist; red or blue; elephant or donkey; Clinton or Reagan; Fox News or MSNBC; etc., etc., yada, yada, yada. Let’s keep the general public mired in political opposition and bipartisan conflict, and distract them from deeper issues.

The U.S. government bombs the country and then uses U.S. contractors to rebuild it. These U.S. contractors (i.e., Bechtel; Halliburton) are usually connected to the government (i.e., heavy campaign contributors; stock owned by government officials). The money used to fund these contractors comes from the U.S. tax payer, who usually does not see a dime of it. The contractors squander the money without having to account for it. It’s an age-old ploy to use tax money to benefit a rich, elite group of businesses and their owners.

Bombing the country is usually a last resort if the country wants to remain sovereign and not hand over its resources to the U.S. Iraq is just one of a number of countries this has happened to. The U.S. approaches an "under-developed" country rich in natural resources and offers to lend the country money to build infrastructure.

Here's the catch: the country must use U.S. contractors (i.e., Bechtel; Halliburton) during the build. Because the borrowing country usually cannot afford to repay the money loaned to it for such a build, the U.S., as part of the loan agreement, seizes control of the collateral (i.e., the country's natural resources). The U.S. media assists this effort by painting the country's president as a dictator who must be removed (and replaced by a U.S. puppet official).

Thank goodness for the U.S. that Sadam was engaged in genocide so that the U.S. could "justify" its actions. If Iraq was not rich in oil, the U.S. would not have removed him and would have never put military troops there. Think of all of the genocide occurring in African countries that the U.S. ignores. Why? Because those countries have no natural resources for the U.S. to squander.

Why do the U.S and its media resources paint Hugo Chavez as a tyrant? So that it can justify a possible military action against Venezuela to seize its oil. This is because Chavez is smart enough to refuse (as every sovereign nation has a right to do) the U.S.'s offer of "assistance" and loans to "build infrastructure" and seek control of Venezuela's oil.

Why does the U.S. continue to have a military presence in Afghanistan? Because the country is rich in mineral deposits. Lithium (for batteries), gold and other valuable ores. Search the internet to learn more about this. Does the U.S. media report this coincidence? Of course not. Again, political party affiliation does not matter. Bush initiated the U.S. military presence in Afghanistan and Obama continues it, as will every president to be elected in the future, so long as “there’s gold in them there [Afghan] hills.”

Regarding the unaccounted-for billions lost in the rebuild of Iraq, the U.S. congress will likely hold hearings and an investigation of such waste (the old dog and pony show) so that the government can appear to be concerned. But, mark my words, the money is gone and congress will not do a damned thing about it.

But hey, who cares??!! American Idol lost Simon Cowell and another Mel Gibson rant was released by the media. Just bury your head in the sand and watch another episode of “Entertainment Tonight.” I hear Apple has released the 4th generation Iphone. Hurry! Better go and get in line right now to buy one!

Go ahead; label me as a conspiracy theorist. However, before you do so, conduct your own investigation into some of my statements.

You're a conspiracy theorist Seamus. There. I said it. Where are the African countries "with no natural resources " that the US doesn't invade. Last time I looked African countries were dripping with natural resources. And the Bechtel / Halliburton stuff. Betcha you never heard of Bechtel/Halliburton before Iraq. "cos before before Iraq ie. Vietnam for example, the Army Corps of Engineers did the heavy lifting in conflict zones. And the invade and steal stuff ? Well last time I looked OPEC said "st1t " and America jumped on the shovel. When OPEC said your $ isn't really strong.. pay us with a petrodollar America bombed them ... I made that last bit up... actually they said OK, we will. There you go Seamus... rest easy, take your pills and it'll all sort itself out.

The policy analysis tallies with the facts since 9/11 and the published objectives of The Project for a New American Century, peopled by US governmental big hitters. As well as these military efforts, there is also the buying, blackmailing and placing of politicians in foreign governments, which you wrote about with respect to Sarkohzy (who is bringing France back into NATO) recently. Even in Ireland, we changed our legislation within months of 9/11 to ease the way for US military use of Shannon for purposes of war.

Where I would disagree with the above is that the problem is that American Government is delusional, or morons. They are very clear sighted, unlike the rest of us, know exactly what they want and plan how to get it. They represent the interests of the corporate and financial elite of the world's greatest industrial power. They are behaving as every imperialist/neoimperialist world power has, in trying to extend and maintain its global power.

The biggest threats to their plans are the relative weakening of the US economically, and the resistance of ordinary people everywhere to being exploited and pushed around.

Which region: the United States ? But some of my best friends are American.

But seriously, this kind of "plague on both their houses talk" is just how many English people talk about Ireland, north and south. We surely have to go a bit deeper than that ?

Roberts is an interesting figure. From Reaganomics to 9/11 denier is a very unusual path.
I wasn't sure where to link to the article, if here or in the Far right militias thread. In many ways I think he fits Young Dan description of a teabagger. I chose to do it here because I think, as he does, that we are reaching an extremely dangerous confrontational situation. There is every reason to believe that Iran is the next target. Neither Russia nor China will sit quietly and watch the USA take full control of Persian Gulf oil and complete their siege.
Leaving aside the responsabilities on 9/11, the fact remains that it created the conditions for an agressive military policy. PNAC's policy, which, in itself, is just a continuation of that of the Cold War.
I also think, like he does, and like economic developments prove, that such policy will bring down the American Empire.
Britain was quite clear sighted on what it wanted prior to WWI - prevent Germany access to raw materials. That effort brought the Empire down and unleashed the greatest carnage of the history of mankind. Not only did they fail to prevent Germany's competition, they lost their supremacy in the effort.
As the USA today they choked on it, biting more than they could chew. I think "delusional" should be seen in that light, and "moronic" in the light of failing to learn history's lesson.
The question, at this point, is not if America will fall. All empires do. The question is when, and how. For the sake of all of us, it should be quietly.
What we all should fear is that it goes down with a bang. And, so far, all points to it.

Question Re: Middle East War predicted

    Great thread.
    I smell it too.
But as to the prophesied usurpation of US hegemony, I'm not so sure.

What is clear is that the world has coalesced into power blocs.
As the global recession continues these blocs will become increasingly confrontational, in both traditional and non-traditional ways.

What signifiers heralded the last global wars?
