The Judge agreed to hear the case - put back to October 12th. It seems that judges have just as long holidays as do TDs.

What is the general feeling on the ground in Donegal South west about all this? They don't seem to be all that bothered about the situation.

disgrace, 30% unemployment and the government running scared.
stories of FF appointees claiming huge expenses and Gaeltacht minister Pat Carey insuring their positions until 2013.

Why don't people start some form of protest about what has been going on. Maybe a linking of hands from Bundoran to Ballybofey on a certain day, even little things like this might have an impact. What have the local papers and local radio been saying about what has been going on?

thats 55km you'd need the entire population of Donegal and then some.
the actual size of the constituency is probably why they are getting away with it. lots of small towns and villages spread out rather than one large population centre .we have a population density of 30 per square kilometre the fourth lowest in Ireland

The only way to effect change is to stop traffic, that is the only thing that works.
RTE wont cover protests, FFS Sky News beat them the time the SWP aproached the Dail, and the Shell protests were glossed over.

As Pearl Jam said in Bu$h Leaguer- "The haves, have not a clue"

I think the main thing in Donegal is that the Tainiste and the Cope would be expected to help with the campaign, and face questions from te Electorate.

So might Jim McDade, who going by the Tubridy interview is very much of the opinion "****** You Jack, I'm alright"
His actions reflect this, In April 2010, he said he would not be voluntarily giving up his ministerial pension of €22,487, despite most other TDs and Senators having done so. He said he would not do so "unless it is the express wish of Dáil Éireann".
The next month it was revealed that he missed more than four out of every five Dáil votes in 2009 -- by far the worst record of any TD
For most of us, we need to attend work to get paid, letalone have a pension!!

He really seemed to convey the attitude that let FG and Labour take over, the situation is so buggered they could not possibly improve it, letting FF off the hook.

As long as we cling on to the old constituancy based system hes right, improvement cannot come without political reform at local and national level

A National Government now being touted by Joe Duffy - another good way of stopping people having an election.
