According to Goldhawk there was a break in at a solicitor's office in Finchley Rd recently where documents relating to the case were stolen.
The Met queried Garda Intelligence and Liaison for background on the Anglo Investigation in Ireland.
Goldhawk quotes a Met source as saying that Gardai were curiously uninterested in the Met case and made no follow up enquiries for information.
    Curious that.

In relation to white collar crime.
    No!
It must be inability or studied ignorance when it comes to dealing with upper levels.
Never heard a Garda commissioner griping about the law w.r.t these cases or the DPP more to the point.
A tad aloof for some reason.

So who's going to play Seanie?
Seriously, the movie will be playing in a couple of years time and Fitzpatrick will be watching the World Cup somewhere with DOB and John Delaney
FUNDING TO develop a feature film script telling the story of Anglo Irish Bank has been awarded by the Irish Film Board.

It will be based on the book Anglo Republic: Inside the Bank that Broke Ireland by Irish Times finance correspondent Simon Carswell. Two Irish scriptwriters are behind the Anglo Irish project: Eugene O’Brien (who wrote the play Eden) and Neal Rowland (involved in the film Once as development executive at Samson Films).

A €16,000 script development loan was given to the project in the film board’s latest funding decisions announced this week.

Carswell’s book details the rise and fall of Anglo Irish Bank – and the men who presided over it – and examines how its collapse affected the State’s finances

Why only one arrest for this ? Fall guy ?

Mr McAteer is facing 16 charges under Section 60 of the Companies Act, which is the provision in Irish company law that essentially prohibits a private director from giving direct or indirect financial assistance for the purchase of its own shares.
Would you mind if I moved these posts to the Anglo Irish investigation thread?

Surely, McAteer's share interests in McInerney's, heavy Anglo borrowers, were also worth a look by the Gardaí ?

Looks like a second arrest coming up today. Seanie?
TheJournal.ie understand that the man in question is McAteer and that another arrest in connection with the investigation is expected later today.

Our former line to the Garda Press Office seems to have broken down since a certain poster left.

There was a report last week saying that Gardaí were leaking again that Fitzgerald was, again, going to be arrested, and this time charged.

Is there an appropriate way we could mark this occasion on this thread (two years old now) or should we wait and see if there is a trial, and a verdict ?

Scope for a competition here ?

Best cast list, accompanied by photos of both the actor/actress and the person to be portrayed?

Two people have been arrested and one has been charged in relation to an alleged share price support scheme at Anglo.

A degree of caution in our comments on these proceedings would be good. No-one would wish to prejudice the right of the accused to a fair trial.

I hope the enforcers of the law do not stop there. There is a long way to go before they can earn back the respect of the public they are supposed to serve.
