There are a lot of eye-witness accounts here. There is no doubt in my mind at this stage that there was live fire from before the landing from the helicopter. This tallies with the satellite report from the deck to al Jazeera. People were aware of live fire and that people were getting killed but such was the disbelief that they weren't taking cover.

Here's one from an activist who remains under house arrest, will do for up to 45 days and could still face charges.

As soon as the Israeli occupation forces learned that I was a Palestinian Israeli citizen, I was treated more harshly and isolated from the rest of the other imprisoned passengers. I was taken to a prison in Ashkelon where I was held in isolation and subjected to humiliations such as strip searches four times a day. The next day we were brought to court, and I was held in a small metal box inside the police car for eight hours with my hands and legs shackled. We were subjected to various accusations, from attacking soldiers to carrying weapons. The judge gave the police permission to extend our detention for another eight days. After international pressure forced the Israeli authorities to release all the foreign prisoners, all the Palestinian citizens of Israel were taken to court again. This time, the judge ruled that we would be subject house arrest and would be forbidden to leave the country for 45 days.

Heard that O Luain's passport was consficated and he was left without a passport. Dept of Foreign affairs provided him with another new one. He urged Martin to do something as regards with his passport.. possible duplicity of his passport for future missions for Israelis secret service.

It was, in the sense that civil rights protesters in the American south who sat at segregated lunch counters represented a provocation to segregationists, or in the sense that all nonviolent protests against the illegitimate acts of a government are by definition provocations. Under an illegal siege, the delivery of aid to civilians is a prohibited act; the intent of our humanitarian convoy was to violate this unjust prohibition.

So the question is what is the International community going to do about this?

What is the Irish government going to do about the beatings handed out to its citizens?

If the answer to these is nothing then anything goes in the world today. We cannot have one morality for the powerful and another for the powerless.
