Default 1901 and 1911 Census Returns and Records are now online

Wonderful news for those with an interest in their family's history and genealogy in general

Following on from the household returns and ancillary records for the Census of Ireland 1911 which the National Archives of Ireland put online some time back, those relating to the Census of Ireland 1901 are also now online in their entirety

They are available for all 32 counties on the Island for both 1901 and 1911

Well done to all involved in this mammoth task. This opens an additional wealth of info for many people, which is accessible free of charge online and from the comfort of one's living room.

Have been checking the 1901 Returns myself this morning. Fascinating stuff.

    Dull as dishwater, my ancestors.
I was expecting to see some fantastic revelation.
Just a sailor, a tailor, some dockers, and loads of seamstresses and shirt makers.
I did learn that NONE of my Great Grandparents actually came from the town I live in.
One Great Uncle did get himself shot dead, about a week after arriving in the the trenches of Northern France, which is kinda interesting.
