So don't think I'll get to sit down and have another chat with the boys about the efficacy of bullet-proof jackets.
I wanted to impart a little knowleldge about hurbris and perhaps a word or two on Ariistotle's notion but the Kev in my heag suggested that that was neither the time nor the place.
Who knows, might get a gig doing workshsops in the joy before the curtain falls.

Where will Freddie and Hutch run to now? Obviously this operation spanned Europe-wide and to South America and with Netherlands making moves to shake off their image of a drug tourism capital and druglord haven....it might be a one way ferry journey to Eritrea.

Default Shots fired at Irish boxing weigh in.

    Hard to believe but...

Quote.. Police in the Republic of Ireland have said they are investigating reports of a shooting at a boxing match weigh-in in Dublin.
The fire service said they were "responding to a serious incident" in a hotel in Whitehall, in the north of the city. unquote. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-35503937

    What's that all about?

    One dead, two injured.
Quote. Several men burst into the foyer of the Regency Hotel, in Whitehall, Dublin.

They were dressed in police-style uniforms with what eye witnesses thought were AK47s, firing shots at random. unquote. http://www.irishmirror.ie/news/irish...egency-7315980

Weigh in was for MGM "Clash of the Clans" event tomorrow evening in the national stadium.

No obvious traveller connection that I can see.

And in any case, police style uniforms and AK-47's is not traveller modus operandi

    More Dublin gangland style.

Jamie Kavanagh [Boxer at weigh-in] has form for street violence...

Quote..Garda Murray objected to bail citing the seriousness of the case and strength of evidence and fears the boxer would not turn up for his trial.
He said the CCTV evidence is very clear and the defendant is clearly identifiable in the footage. It was alleged that following Mr Kavanagh’s father’s funeral, a number of people went to Harcourt Street but were refused entry at one premises.
They then went to the Jackson Court hotel but were again refused entry after which “there was a very large fight, Mr Kavanagh was involved in this”.
Garda Murray said some of the door staff “were hit a number of times, Mr Kavanagh was in the middle of this”. There were six or seven in the group and five of them have been identified, he said.
Judge Walsh refused bail and remanded Mr Kavanagh in custody to appear at Cloverhill District Court on Thursday. unquote. http://www.irishtimes.com/news/crime...eral-1.2424523

May or not be connected. One thing is for sure, the Dublin underworld has a long memory.

There appears to be family links to the criminal underworld.....

Quote. Police believe that the Irish gangster gunned down in a Costa del Sol bar popular with Irish tourists was lured to his death by a mystery woman.
Detectives recovered a mobile believed to belong to Gerard ‘Hatchet’ Kavanagh from the murder scene at the upmarket resort of Elviria near Marbella.
They are now working through the numbers on it to see who called him before he died.
The 44-year-old gangland enforcer was shot nine times in a professional hit just before 5pm local time on Saturday as he had a drink on an Irish bar terrace with an unidentified female. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...e-believe.html

Gangsterism. The lowest form of capitalism.

What would you consider to be the highest form of capitalism?

He is the son of Gerard "Hatchet" Kavanagh, a deceased drug dealer with close connections to the Kinahans. "Hatchet" was allegedly murdered by the Kinahan crew in 2014 for stealing from them. "Hatchet's" brother, Paul, the uncle of boxer Jamie, was also allegedly murdered by the Kinahan crew last year for the same offence. Fascinating then that Jamie was present at the scene of this apparent strike against the Kinahans.

The lack of a Garda presence at this weigh in given the people likely to be in attendance and the likelihood for reprisals for previous killings points to extreme incompetence or worse.

Separately MGM should be banned from sanctioning fights in Ireland in future also.

The dead man has been named as David Byrne.

It is said that one of the wounded was Daniel Kinahan, son of Christy.
