    Default JJ Kelso...anybody know them

No I dont mean the Kelso Laundry..!

    Main street Ballinasloe.....JJ Kelso.

Seems to be left in a time warp, does anybody know about this old company that seems to have ceased trading back in the 60s/70s. Surprising to see the shop window remains untouched from that period.

A little Gem in my world..

Kileens of Shannonbridge, not too far away from Ballinasloe. Real old style pub and shop. When the bar is packed people then sit on stools in the shop.

    Bustards in Donegal Town

Stopped and chatted with the oul fella a few years back, I asked him how business was and he told me nothing was for sale, just for viewing.

Reminded me on the line from Josey Whales

'All I got's this piece of hard-rock candy...but it ain't for eatin...it's just fir lookin through'

Not sure how much the PVC windows and doors does for the ambience mind you.

If dreams were lightning, thunder was desire, this whole place would have burned down, a long time ago.

Don't have a pic to hand, but there's a decrepit, ramshackle house on Washerwoman's Hill in Glasnevin from which wizened old faces could periodically be seen staring. As a kid, I thought it was haunted. I learned a couple of years ago that it was a former sweetshop inhabited by two sisters who had stubbornly refused to move out after their parents (the proprietors) died. You can still see some of the old signage if you look closely enough. Although last time I passed, it was boarded up, so perhaps they died or finally left.
