As anticipated, questions around Michael D's sexuality are emerging, specifically about the President's close relationship with his personal assistant. Page 3 & 4 of Phoenix.

I imagine it would spectacularly derail the campaign of any candidate found to be behind this attempted smear?

Whatever your opinion on Higgins is he should not be using State funds in his re-election campaign

A lifetime in with his snout in the trough. Like the rest of his ilk, he considers that the public money is his money.

A low turnout would surely suit the incumbent?

For the first time in 30 something years of going to the polls I may just skip this non-event of a Presidential Election.

    I would vote for Freeman.

Higgins developed a taste for high living as one photo said it all -his visit to an expensive restaurant in Cork examiner paper photo.

Also that incumbent has 6 or 7 pensions to date- one of ESB where he had worked in Galway , other pension is that of NUIG as there are other pensions as well that i forgotten the names.

Why vote for a 77 years old incumbent??? No fat chance of me voting for him as i would vote for a young candidate such as Freeman or GOd (Gemma o Doherty).

Very low turnout, generally. Get out and vote if you don't want Peter Casey for President.

Just back from voting and the number of people voting was quite low. From a quick glance at the electoral register, the percentage might be below 30%.

It would be some laugh if Casey won because the Higginsites all thought the other Higginsite was voting and their vote was not necessary. Looking at Paddy Power at the odds for second highest and Casey seems to be favourite there. Gallagher's support seems to have evapourated and unless FFers favour him, he might struggle to make 10% FPV.

From a ten minute scroll through social media two days ago, there was very little time for Higgins (media darling) . The only group that looked they felt motivated about anything were the Casey supporters.

I have no idea if that will translate into a voting pattern, but if it does, will be saddened rather than surprised.

I could not vote for Higgins myself because he covers his ass with the spurious argument that if he took a piece of new legislation to the Supreme Court to test its constitutionality he would prevent an imaginary future person from doing so. Thereby avoiding the only really serious responsibility a President has.

Gave it to the musician's daughter instead.
