    Default 'Socialist Voice' Published by the Communist Party of Ireland

    I thoroughly recommend reading this monthly publication, there are always a few articles that are quite interesting and thought provoking.

    It costs €1.50 an issue, or you can read it online for free.

    Articles from the June edition can be accessed below:

    https://socialistvoice.ie/2018/06/

    I found three articles from this month to be of particular interest:

    One entitled "Housing Cost-rental model or cost-rental twaddle?" gives an analysis of the Cost-Rental Model;
    "“Cost-rental model” is the flavour of the month as a way of solving the housing emergency and making the provision of shelter more affordable and sustainable.

    Another entitled "Political journalism in the Age of Revolution" is of interest also.

    Finally, Tommy McKearney's offerings are always worthwhile: "A different Ireland is in the making"
    "What for long appeared unimaginable has seemingly now become inevitable. The Northern state, created with a built-in unionist majority and uncompromising regime, once seemed as permanent a fixture as its grandiose parliament building at Stormont.

    Not any longer, though. Britain’s Tory prime minister has voiced her doubts about its future as part of the United Kingdom; and the views of the leader of Britain’s Labour Party on this matter are well known.¹ Though Theresa May’s comments were made during a spat with her party critics, they clearly reflect thinking within governing circles in London. The point now is to understand that this presents socialist republicanism with challenges as well as an invitation to make progress."

    I'd recommend bookmarking the website and giving it a skim each month.

    Thanks for the headsup.

    An article explaining how the Industrial Relations Act 1990 hobbles the trade union is quite illuminating.

    Interesting, must admit didn't realise Gabriel Rosenstock was a supporter.

    I agree with this article. It is an apt and timely critique of the obsessive privateer agenda.

    And frankly, one doesn't need to be a Commie, or even a socialist, to critique the rather strange neo-liberal obsession with privatising everything. It's just commonsense to do so.
