    Default Ortega's final disgrace ?

Seeing as no-one else, etc, might as well do a post. Another sorry tale . In this explainer the former leftist and (over years) increasingly corrupt Ortega has long been a neo-liberal (to neo-con) and worse . It should be remembered that neighbours all round have long been as bad to worse as only El Salvador and Costa Rica have remained out of the unfortunately named 'banana republic' bracket in recent times with Honduras and Guatemala ruled by the local extreme rights and Mexico gone extremely corrupt/ultra-capitalist https://www.democracynow.org/2018/6/...guan_president

The presenter tags the country leftist which seems a bit clueless considering the drastic anti abortion situation since Ortega came back to power (social conservative might be more apt?). At least Blumenthal acknowledges Ortega's compromises before detailing the interference . I think it is plausible but remain to be convinced

If there is major US 'intelligence' involvement then this is coming from a having more money than sense direction (of course with Trump, that is now more possible). Why would they want to spend resources on toppling a guy who has become his own worst enemy in a sense . Anyhow from a Swiss trotskyist source a completely anti Ortega view. I give up hoping to have a good understanding of what's happening
    http://alencontre.org/ameriques/amel...s-17-juin.html
And from the likely related English '4th international' site (French NPA related I think) , I have a headache now and just skimmed it, but it has a similar gist, support the revolt while opposing US interference (Blumental's line of course is that the revolt is funded by US interference, and that Ortega's social welfare set up is still worth defending despite the cuts, and the drastic anti-abortion law/capitualtion to 'christian right', which is quite a stretch) http://www.europe-solidaire.org/spip.php?article44718

I leave it with a, 'Who is being the more naieve to wishful thinking there?' If the analysises above are even half true then Ortega is surely not worth trying to defend anymore

Ok this seems to swing it back in the Ortega's government favour . From the 'progressive' CEPR who seem like level headed folks to me (article is April)
    http://cepr.net/blogs/the-americas-b...ld-on-a-second

Conclusion 'There are plenty of reasons to criticize the Ortega administration, particularly following deadly repression by state security forces over the past week. And there is no doubt that student protesters, or anyone willing to take to the streets to have their voices heard, should be allowed to do so peacefully. But conflating all of the world’s grievances with Ortega, without further analysis of the issues or motivations, into one movement — a movement destined to overthrow a “dictatorship”— doesn’t do anybody any favors. Except maybe for those who would like to see a more neoliberal economic reform agenda imposed on the Nicaraguan people.'

My conclusion: Beware of being a useful idiot for neo-liberal-ism, not every revolt is a good one

Again I still find this hard to believe . It would seem to indicate a going out of control meddling sunk to grudge match levels ? Again from Blumenthal and confirming the CEPR analysis (June 19th)
